Peculiar memory, add your funny storie!

Postby Clinton » Thu Jan 18, 2007 11:51 am

Hello, I tought id make a post about my peculiar memory, and it would be interesting if people would write theirs also, who knows could be some funny stories :) .

- I often cannot remember what color my towl is, even if it is brand new, my way of coping with this is picking a pink towl if I can, becaus noone in my familie uses that, same goes for my toothbrush.

- I am 21 years old yet I cannot remember my families birth dates, we are a familie of 5, I do on the other hand know "meaningless" dates and things that many other people would not.

- Just as I was writing this I rememberd id forgotten to take out our dog,I am supposed to take her out when I wake up, this happens alot.

- I can forgot a important message I got the same day, but I can remember things from many years ago that, as an example, my brother said under a familie dinner, a thing that is percieved as wierd to remember.

I know there are more things I can add to this list but, ironicly I seem to have forgotten.
If you have some funny memory stories or such to add it would be great and maybe people can identify.

There are three things that i think make my memory not so normal. but of course we all think were just so special dont we. But one would have to be that i think in analogies. its automatic, i didnt relize it till i really paid attention. not only am i thinking in analogies but my responces are based on them. Its a sub concience thing. Like i have to make a connection in order to process. It can be anything, even small things. 2nd... my main memory consists mostly of snapshots. ie (snapshot) that car has a flat tire. but if i dont take a snap shot of the car i wont remember who or what kind of car had a flat. And this is an actual memory. I remember time date place setting of the flat tire but i didnt take a snapshot of the car. also since i think mostly in analogies, the snapshot of the car with the flat has a 2nd dairy memory which is attached to it. ie my fat tires and any flat tires i have ever seen. so when i think of that flat i think of my own. i guess that is normal. When i say "Snapshot" they really are pictures. Still Pictures. And i go over them, and of course create analogies with them...ie connect $#%^. also i would say that they are intense also (in a sensual sense) but the best shots iv ever taken come when i take them out of the side of my eye or if im turned around and i take them over my shoulder. even i have to brag about those ones. the from the side or over the sholder shots are the most vivid. ie, actual event. i was driving down the street with a passenger in the car and and saw 2 gang members or drug dealers walking past each other and i noticed the quick exchange of money and drugs all while im driving at 40mph while looking foward while talking with a friend that was in the car with me.. and these guys know how to exchange. no more then a 2 second connection of the hands. but where they mess up at is that it is too quick. why would two guys join hands without looking at each other or even saying hi. but its no great feet that i saw this, but that i saw this while not trying to see it. just driving down the street. but of course i didnt get there faces, i can only identify them by there hands! Third would have to be short and long term memory which i just figured out i may not have a problem with short term memory. For example can learn peoples names but only in a indirect way. IE THEteacher calling role call in class. But if we meet and you tell me your name i wont remember. not because i have bad memory but because there is to much prossessing (snapshots) i do in social interaction to remember. anxiety. so these 3 things have the biggest impact on my memory. And i do all 3 at the same time.

- I have the fantasitic ability to completely ignore posts written in the POD (Paragraph of Doom) style. (That being when everything in a lengthy post is jammed into one inappropriately large paragraph.)
