Well, I can't speak on behalf of others here, but to me the word 'normal' doesn't imply anything better than [whatever my condition is]. 'Normal' is the adjective form of 'norm'. I'm not very fond of norms — not the ones I'm often subjected to, at least. I do use the term "normals" to mean "people who aren't me". And trust me, it doesn't at all imply that I think any less of myself compared to them because of it!
From time to time people end up discussing this kind of terminology in the schizoid PD forum. It's sometimes a debate with strong opinions involved (there are even slightly derogatory variations used by some, like "normies", or even "muggles"), but no one there seems to be bothered by the idea of "not being normal". It can even be a matter of pride for some.
