ever time i've asked about this, i get the same answer. and it's the one i've just given you. you can't claim disability benefit if you have £16K or more in savings. and you can't claim unemployment benefit if you're not fit for work.

You can claim benefit if not fit for work. It's called ESA (Employment Support Allowance). It breaks down into two categories. WRAG group - work related activity group and Support group. If on the support group you get pretty much left alone to get better. WRAG pester you and try to make you go through freaking work related help things.
Although, it all changes to PIP in April so don't know how it will work then.
