I've always had this problem and I seem to see alot of this going around, but does anyone know (or have any thoughts on) why some or maybe most aspergers have an irrational fear of losing. By losing, I mean not succeeding, and while I'm at it, why do some of us feel that we have to be first or have the most things.

I am unsure on the true answers but I certainly have my own opinions with which to share. I believe that the irrational fear of losing and the need to be first are actually the same thing. Think about it: If you do not like losing then you will probably like winning. Therefore, you will enjoy coming first and having the most things. It is the same if you view it from the opposite angle.
As to the exact cause of these things - Well, I believe that they stem from childhood. I mean, the brain is at its peak development during childhood and things that are learnt then are set firmly into your brain tissue. They can be difficult to overwrite once late-adolescence and adulthood has arrived. In my case, my fear of losing stems from actual constant rejection - I tried many things as a child but my style of living then was not in tune with everybody else. So, I began to fear rejection, and still do.
**Please note that in the above explanation the fear of losing would no longer be 'irrational' due to it having a specific cause.
