If you have no signifcant problems, then I don't understand the point of a diagnosis anyway. But now that you do have a dx, let me explain something. You are the exact same person that you were before the diagnosis. Hell, maybe even better considering you have an understanding of some of your difficulties. But you are not any less of a person than your peers, and a diagnosis is not a death sentence. Just because you have a label it doesn't mean you are sick, ill, crazy, stupid or less worthy. So no matter what you are categorized as, it doesn't mean you can't survive. Many many people with Autism and Asperger's live to have full lives with jobs, family and friends. Don't use your dx as a crutch, saying "I'm AS so I can't do sh**". Because that's not true. Live your life just as you did before. Don't worry about a label, it's obvious that it doesn't help you any.

It does feel like social cancer at times though.

So if you don't have sensitivity to sound, and you can read social situations, may I ask, what type of behavior were/are you displaying that led to the diagnosis?
