Oh my goodness! I didn't know that anxiety and aspergers were seperate. I don't know any aspie who doesn't have anxiety. I know a few without ADD and ADHD tho. Thank you to all who reponded. It gave me a bigger idea however. Aspies are a collection of different little tendencies or symptoms that make up the syndrome. Which is what symdrome means anyway. What i'm trying to say is, when ever I am looking for an answer or to hear what others have experienced, I tend to get lost in the forums because the lack of announcing what the deeper issue is in the title. Like, in married to an aspie, there was a long debate on time management (my husband who is an aspie takes 2 hours to put on sneakers too!). Like I wish we had a cloud or something with topics that are symptoms to choose from. But then again...every aspie has a little OCD and this may just be mine coming out. Or maybe like a "(symtom)" at the end of each title kinda like the cutters forum with the warning triggering thing at the end. That'd be cool, Thats all I'm saying. But I can continue to read every forum.

In addition to AS, I have also been diagnosed with OCD, GAD and depression, all of which I take medication to treat in addition to treating some psychotic symptoms.

I have anxiety, OCD and learning difficulties. I could have depression too but I dunno. I feel happy. I have been diagnosed with it before and had it before. I also have an eating disorder but I am absent from it now meaning I don't have it right now. I just forget to eat or not eat because I don't know what to eat and I don't want to cook or I don't want to stop what I am doing to eat. I suspect I also have social anxiety.

I was told anxiety is part of AS. That is why we have meltdowns or shutdowns, have anger issues, have short fuses, get upset too easily, can't handle stress well or get stressed out too easily. All caused by anxiety. I think our symptoms cause us anxiety so that is why they make it part of it. But people argue that anxiety isn't part of it. But medicine makes it less severe because it treats the anxiety and it helps us deal with our autism better.

Well, anxiety itself may not be apart of the formal diagnosis of AS. Actually, I'm pretty sure it isn't. But...since anxiety is so common with those with AS, that it probably could be safe to merge the two.

I'm kinda glad you brought up the anxiety topic and how we get stressed out so easily. Friday and Saturday were like that for me. So much stuff was going on, so fast, that I virtually just "shut down" last night. I kinda don't want to leave my new house, at all, today just to try and recharge my internal-batteries.
