Is this where this belongs?

I have a fear of people or if i tell someone i like them or enjoy their company. I shut down and sometimes try my hardest to ignore them. I am 25 years old, not a teenager. Whats wrong with me?

The only thing keeping me alive is Jesus Christ. If he did not do what he did, i would have murdered myself already. But, here is the kicker; I am not depressed in anyway. I have no need for material things, i don't want a house or nice items. I just don't want to live on the streets.

I've had dreams of people being murdered, me falling off a cliff and landing on rocks, being stabed an feeling the pain, and dreams of chapters in the bible i've never read.

Hello Tenchi,
What you describe as your fear of people seems to me like it could be social anxiety or social phobia.

Socialphobia Fear of people - this can be crowds, speaking in front of groups (Glassophobia), meeting strangers, even being afraid of interacting with family member. Often diagnosed as extreme shyness. Self-esteem, being judged by others, rejection, embarrassment and acceptance may all need to be addressed.

In my opinion a phobia is not a disorder, it is a learned fear. therefore it can be unlearned through cognitive behavioral therapy.

If it actually is aa anxiety disorder the same method can be applied along with meds if you chose to take that route.

So your a minimalist, thats okay. That doesn't mean anything is wrong with you. You have no need for material things other than for survival. I wish more people were like you. Right here you are ahead of the gang because you realize that material goods do not bring happiness. And, wont be constantly searching for true happiness through ipods and the best clothes. You know this is futile, and that is fantastic. That makes me happy.

Nightmares and dreams may hold some sort of symbolism to what is going on in your life. Now I'm not saying these dreams will tell the future, that would be ridiculous. But I do think that these are products of the subconscious that may be able to help you to find out more about yourself. Check this site out. It's pretty cool actually. It is a guide to help you interpret your dreams. With a dream dictionary.

neato, thanks. I rather not fix anything with drugs, therapy sounds more real to me. The annoying thing is sometimes i am afraid and sometimes im not.

I use to be depressed, but thats all gone away without medication. The medication seemed to make it worse.

But, when im not so broke. I will be attending sessions.

I agree Tenchi sometimes medication can do more harm than good. There are definately things you can do on your own before you get the funds to attend therapy.
Yoga and meditation is a great tool for getting to know your true self and working through emotional issues.
Another thing you can do is Expose yourself to the things you fear most. Force yourself to do things you fear. This will make you desenstized to that fear, and help you to be more comfortable in social situations. So don't just socialize when you are feeling fearless, socailize when you are feeling the most anxious. Concentrate on making appropriate eye contact and keep thinking these are just people like yourself. This will be very difficult the first few times. But, as time goes on you will be completely rid of your phobia. I don't think your issues are of great concern. You'll get this thing straightened out. Just be strong, and don't let the fear control your life. Really, when you think about it rationally, what is there to be afraid of? Absolutely nothing. Nip this sucker in the bud!

take care,
Amy

I have another issue with women. But, i think all men have problems with women.

All i know is i need to invest in God and cars. Not women, and my life will be complete.
