Does your panic disorder get worse with the changing seasons

Postby Cnh- » Sun Apr 23, 2006 7:12 am

I'm just interested in knowing. Personally, my panic disorder usually perks up every spring - I think its a combination of the pollen (I get sinus headaches, phlegm in my throat sometimes, overall gross feeling) and the humidity (very humid in Georgia in Spring and Summer) - those combined make me feel like crap - I can't breathe as well, feel like I can't take a deep breath, and that starts the panic - a -comin. Luckily I've managed to learn how to control them pretty well over the years.

In fall and winter I'm usually fine and have very few attacks - weird huh.

no seasons don't trigger my anxiety persay, but if I feel too hot I sometimes do get anxiety symptoms.. for some reason that is a trigger, but it goes away almost instantly.

(I can control my anxiety pretty much now)

I'm just the opposite. my anxiety and depression get better in the spring. And worse in the fall.

My depression and overall mood are great in the spring time.

Heat for me sometimes triggers anxiety symptoms, but once that passes it's all good. ;)

My Anxiety seems to punch in often...

In October/November the anxiety about being in the dark more often affects me. I am afraid of the dark and afraid of being alone... I live where we have freak weather so power goes out a lot in the fall/winter

In January/February my panic attacks peak and there's no good reason for the anxiety maybe just being shut in all winter starts taking it's toll at that time?

May/June - anxiety and panic are common... I have a great fear of living next to the woods and there are so many animals out there
that freak me out... Bears, Coyotes, Moose, snakes give me the creeps so I still am shut in and anxious...

It just seems like I'm afraid of everything... I hope the meds help! :(

My anxiey is always worse in the summer because of the anniversary and also because the heat mimics my panic symptoms. In a way, my body says - oh, you are hot and sweaty, we must be panicking - and I panic.
Also during season change I don't get panicky, per se, but my mind races and my insomnia increases. It is like a new season should be a new life and I go overboard in my expectations.

I can't help but think that my allergies that get bad in the beginning of Spring cause me terrible anxiety. I have been having a feeling that i just cannot get a good breath. It's not constant but when I feel that way, It makes me so anxious that I begin to panic. I control it with clonazepam but I wish I didn't need it. I do not seem to have this problem during any other time of the year. It always sems to be about my breathing. I try relaxation breathing and I think it helps some. Does anyone else besides cnh- habe this problem too? Does it seem your anxiety gets worse during the times you are experiencing allergic reactions? I really want to know if there is a correlation. If i ever figure out how to really control my anxiety, panic, and phobias, I promise to help everyone I can overcome it as well. Thank you all for sharing!

Yes! From Winter to Spring and from Fall to Winter, specially if the temperature changes are high.
