possibly me too but i am amused all of the time. i am not conscious of the fact that i don't, but i suspect i seldom laugh despite high capacity for amusement.

i mentioned my submissive in another thread. she prefers to listen to me talk and i am fairly talkative. hence, we talk all of the time (i sometimes talk for 10+ minutes with no interruption or pauses). aanyway, she laughs often and she tells me i very rarely laugh, and when i do, she does not understand why i am amused.

Haha, what just happened? :D

there were supposed to be 2. i added an extra because third time's the charm.

occasionally, i type a short word an extra time without noticing. i don't know why but that's the explanation. i can't help it not that I've tried to stop.

I find ironic humor in myself and in others. The difference can be subtle or as clear as day.

I do this a lot. I make myself the butt of the joke quite regularly. I'm a natural comedian with people, most of it dry and borderline offensive.

I don't think that self-deprecating humour has a negative effect, in fact I think it has some very powerful advantages. Any idiot can big themselves up, but it takes a confident person to be able to take the piss out of themselves and not think that it's destroyed their persona.

If I put myself down for the sake of a good laugh it's clear that it's a joke and it kind of makes people decide for themselves that "he's not really like that, in fact..." and it ends up having the opposite effect.

This thread reminded me of a Frankie Boyle quote: "I watched the Saddam Hussain execution video on the internet the other day. Shocking. Afterwards I sat back and asked myself the question: Is there nothing on the internet that I won't masturbate to?"

It's self-deprecating humour, but it's pretty obvious that he doesn't masturbate to execution videos - but it's funny and it's shocking enough not to be forgotten. It would have been less effective if he'd applied it to someone else.

Displayed vulnerability wins people over better than anything else. It's a powerful tool.
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.

Another note; people tend to like you more when you laugh about yourself.

-read it in a book

i wasn't sure what, if anything, i would discover but i searched for studies about psychopathy or ASPD and sense of humor. I found a highly relevant one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/22559907/

grandiose self worth and glib & superficial charm correlate positively with ability to laugh at oneself.

Lol I tend to laugh like a hiena at times too. I've noticed that I do this I particular with slapstick humor. Lol. Not really in movies but in real life. When I watch someone get hurt, sometimes I can't help but burst out with a short little giggle which is usually very inappropriate, but it's something I can't contain. It probably makes me seem a little demented to some people and isn't a characteristic they would normally expect from me unless they've seen me do it before. Does anyone else seem to have this problem??

Sometimes. Depends on what it is though.

do you ever make yourself the butt of your own jokes?

Yeah, it's good to appear easy going. People seem to like that.

can you tolerate having someone else tell a joke about you (assuming it is not malicious)?

Yup, it doesn't bother me at all. Usually I'll even add to it.

can you play the clown in public and intentionally make a fool out of youself for others' amusement?

Sure I can.
