how am I naive? I've experienced more harsh realities than most people from a very young age.

You're still young; or at least you come across as such. Going through sh1t doesn't stop someone being naive. It very much depends on how their mental attitude interprets those events to gain experience. The way you look at stuff (and yourself) is extremely naive. I have no interest in going into detail on this; I don't really care.

think your confusing believing in the reality of possibilities or what some might call 'idealism' with naivety.

That sounds exactly like the sort of thing my 16 year old and his friends would say when they're "putting the world to rights." Intelligence without experience. It's not a bad thing, but it's naive.

I find pursuing the difficult thrilling. It's a lifestyle. I consider your life mundane, and I have no problem failing and ending up homeless or dead in pursuit of something better. Life itself is worthless to me; living is what's worth it, and that means pushing yourself and others to realize the greatest happiness or collectively kicking the bucket should we fail in our quest. Either way we all end up dead, so there is no point in living a mundane or 'Just getting by' life because you're just postponing death rather than rising above the fear of it to realize the best living humans can imagine within the reality of possibilities.

Same response as my last.

gifted eh? sounds like you're privileging some abilities over others according to what you've been taught by your masters who want to fit you snugly into conventional life. no thanks.

Another naive response. You're theorising about my comment rather than looking for it's general, obvious meaning.

When you listen to a gifted child they normally have a certain way of communicating. They speak like someone much older and can formulate an opinion about many things...but they lack the experience to apply what they're learning to make a tangible difference.

You do the same - you idealise and speculate, which is fine as a thought experiment, but everything you write about is all about future; you have no ability to effect the changes needed in your life now to be happy as you are with a plan for the future.

Everything you discuss works in a bubble. "In the future, this will happen and that will be great!" This works because you don't have to consider the myriad of variables which will affect the day-to-day living in that environment.

I don't wish to argue about it, Felicity, either you'll accept it or you won't. In the same way that my kids tend to learn by experience because "what the f*ck does Dad know?" you will refuse to accept experienced answers because you KNOW you are right.

Therefore, you'll argue that you're not naive because you are naive. :)
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.

Jomp, 5 years ago I came up with a plan, an ambitious plan, and it was firmly based on this thinking of mine that you say is impractical. Guess what? Everything I planned and predicted has come true thus far (the plan is only half way realized, however). I am exactly where I planned and predicted I would be 5 years ago. I considered and anticipated the variables, and I was right.

what differentiates me from your 16 year old and his friends is that what your 16 year old is going through is a phase and he himself probably doesn't see a future in it nor has he considered the myriad variables that he must anticipate to make it happen. In a few years he will buckle down and join conventional life like his daddy. If he turns out ‘normal’ that is...

I HAVE to live this way. I CANNOT live a conventional life. I’ve tried. And I failed. It’s do this, or kill myself. Those are my options. Conventional life MAKES ME WANT TO KILL MYSELF, seriously. I don’t know how you guys do it. I will truly never understand your mindset. I don’t know what the fuk is wrong with me, but I just can’t live like that. I need something else. Maybe I’m wrong about what it is right now, but at least I’m looking…
