I'd completely argue about the reputation "requirements" for this forum, it's more as in "go with the pack" than a community with (a majority of) independent thinkers, quite rare yet so very far from here.

Seriously?! It's natural for growing children to need a lot more food than adults, but the need for that much intervention seems unhealthy. Does he have some kind of digestive or metabolic disorder?

Such accusations are often made against parents of children with problems like these. I recall a story about a boy who was constantly hungry but appeared to be starving, and when his mother took him to a specialist to find out what was wrong, the first thing the doctor did was accuse the mother of intentionally starving the child. After hearing the whole story, she retracted the accusation, saying she had jumped to it because she had seen too many young patients who had been abused in this way. She then concluded that the problem was most likely coeliac disease and recommended feeding the boy on a coeliac-friendly diet to see if his condition improved, which it did.

I'll give him another month bc he's growing at such an alarming rate. He went from 5'5" on his 12th birthday at the end of April to 5'10"on Thanksgiving. That's a lot of extra boy to feed. I think if he were sick, he wouldn't be growing, right?

He usually goes through long&lean phases followed by thickening up phases as he grows anyway. This lean phase just seems more pronounced bc of the rate of growth. I'll wait until this growth spurt is over and then I'll give him a month to see if he starts thickening up like normal. If he doesn't, I'll tell my sister to get him to a doctor. At the very least, she might still be able to get the Ensure covered on her drug plan.
