^ That primal thing assumes that homosexuality is a social construct. It's not. Sexual attraction for any gender is primal.

Prime... interesting... so what's it mean when someone is in their prime?

Essence is probably the best non-offensive way to describe it. People can be attracted to non-animate objects for christ sakes.

With regards to the original post, all I could come up with is "fit for purpose" being the thing that attracts me to a person.

Homosexuality is contrived. Always has been.

Well there and to a greater degree Greece. But I thought a rite of passage constituted an innocence to experience type of journey. Those times and places was probably more like Innocence lost types of trips. So I guess not always contrived but sometimes compelled. Like prison.

Well, there might have been a laissez faire attitude, for lacks of better terms, towards homosexuality, which is not exactly present in today's world. It's like hazing what they do at sigma whatever, to prepare people for whatever it is that would otherwise stop them in their tracks or lead them to manipulation later on... I remember reading about household slaves at one point... it's naturally occurring throughout the animal kingdom is it not?

I don't know where the prison comes into play... that's just offensive...

Sure in the animal kingdom it "naturally" happens but we are talking bout humans here. Yeah the attitude certainly was different then. People knew it for what it was. For the sex. Now everyone tries to make a statement with it. Like a sort of love is involved or something. Totally contrived. Pure fiction what homosexuality used to be about.
