Hmm. MR, I wonder about the disparity between moves like this 'Just for Fun' and the stance you take on 'Not using the Forum for Socialising, but only [It's intended use]'.

Either it's a severe form of politicking which I don't understand because it's a forum and nothing gets won. Or you imagine these games are something else entirely. Would you explain it to me?

Well as I was reading the conversation between JOMP and Reaper I was thinking they are not using the same meaning of the word socialise. It seems Reaper deems any humourous or light-hearted banter as socialising whilst JOMP (and I) see it as something different.

To me socialising usually means I'm playing a role. Of course I will engage in banter here at times. Its not strict clinical talk. But socialising means I am presenting an image in order to get something. I'm not trying to get anything here. I never will meet anyone from this forum so it doesn't matter all that much how they perceive me. I'm here to pass time and enjoy the anonymity which I cannot enjoy when I am truly socialising with those that are part of my actual life. Although its more enjoyable here in a way because its much more relaxed.

One of the reasons I didn't reply on-topic there; Not sure what it even means to socialise, since it's so vaguely defined.
