I don't think a non-thing can exist though. It's an oxymoron. For anything to exist it must first be a thing.

I think she's pissed off that she can't find much of that earnest badarse psikopathic drivel here she wanted to 'research' for her undergrad school-project. Little does she realise that we're unashamedly 'normals' here, for the most part (give or take the odd borderline.)

You so misquoted me!

I'm here because I want to be here. I enjoyed all the talk about the PCL-R and it has been a subject of interest for me in the past. I almost read the entire thread...I said almost...I got bored after the first 25 pages. Then I went to the end to see if this puppy was still alive and saw someone asking for a link to some test...the MMPI-2 I believe... and I came to give them that information. And shared my observations. Isn't that what you do in a forum?

LOL...really Wooster. You could not be any further from the truth. First of all, I'm not an undergrad although I was once upon a time. And my field of study was not even psycho anything. I majored in Philosophy and also received my master's degree in Philosophy...logic and metaphysics to be exact. I ended up working in the addiction/criminal justice field for quite a few years which is where I became interested in Hare's work. I grew up as what everyone consider a "troubled youth" and was marked as "unlovable", "unteachable" and "unworthy". I got pregnant at the age of 15 so that I could move away from an abusive family life and never looked back. I studied Philosophy because I wanted to know myself and have a better understand of life. I went into the field of addiction/criminal justice because I wanted to help people. I hate bureaucracy which made my career a living hell and I ended up retiring early because it eventually made me very sick. I still try to help people but now I do it my way instead of through some bureaucratic lead organization. I was trying to help someone when I started on this forum...someone looking for a link to an MMPI-2.

And yes, that thing kind of looks like over toasted eel.

Thanks for the intro, _femina.
See, have you started with that, I wouldn't have been halfway as rude.
What caught my eyes in your 1st post was that you repeated the same well-known Greek phrase 3 times - once in Greek, once in phonetic latin spelling, once in its original 'olde english' translation. Now, i'm far from fluent in classic greek, yet even i can recognise & read that phrase written in greek alphabet, having come across it so many times. Others may be more familiar with the phonetic version. However, this forum consisting mainly of american & young people, the english form "know yourself" alone would've perfectly sufficed / been the most widely understood. So, the superfluous use of all 3 formulæ struck me as if your intention was rather trying to prove thyself (flash your intellect?), than to effectively bring across a point.
Have i known earlier what you disclosed about your past - that you have a valid cause/reason for having to prove yourself to the external world, even when it's unnecessary - I'd've never called you out on that.
Also, the out-of-context wordplay on "ecce homo" implied to me some hidden PC/ideologist agenda.
Throw in that "little dude" remark to Myers which could be easily interpreted as a personal dig on the defensive ("passive agressive", is that what you call it across the pond?) - so you can see how easily things can be misconstrued by first impressions. Esp. on an internet forum.

That out of the way, a belated welcome to the forum! :) Hope you stick around.

pseudopaths
Well, if psycho/sociopaths are known to harm others, then pseudopaths are good news!! :D

No, no... You wandered onto a site full of unrepentant jackasses (psychopath or not) and felt compelled to point out exactly what everyone, including the trolls, already knew. You likely even realized that fact, yet you couldn't resist bestowing us with your profound insight, clichés, and dead languages. When called on this, you made a sad attempt to backpedal and told us some sob story about your traumatic childhood and how you were drawn to philosophy to learn about yourself ... as if anyone would give half a $#%^ whether it was real or not.

Why? What purpose does this serve you? How did you imagine this was going to play out for you?

Hows that obsession about those murders you talked about a few years ago going?

I lost interest in that a while ago. I wrote Ron (DeFeo) a short letter, though. Very underwhelming. I expected more dark humor from a guy who shot his whole family.
