I read somewhere that if you're on the phone doing business, you should hold the phone to your right ear, but if you're talking socially, you should hold it to your left, as the different sides of your brain operate differently.

Using your left ear will allow you to be more creative and using your right ear, more logical and processed.
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.

I'm left handed. I don't know the inheritance pattern of this trait but my paternal grandfather was left handed. I do believe there's some correlation between left handedness and a familial tendency for schizophrenia but it's most certainly not a clear cut predictor: my aunt is schizophrenic but right handed, I'm left handed but I show no obvious signs of it. I've never met my grandfather but my mother is sure he was not normal, and psychotic.

I'm very much right-handed. My left hand is limited to some fairly menial tasks, whereas my right hand does all the cool stuff.

It would be important if your brain's organisation is coherent with your being right-handed.
You can try this: ask someone to push you from behind (on your back). It's coherent if you instinctively step forward with your right leg, to maintain the balance and stay on your feet.

Well what else would the other hand be there for if not to use?

It can't be just for aesthetic reasons or symmetry otherwise the rest of me would follow suit.

Someone once told me: Manners73, you got two hands, use them.

I found this advice to be sound.

Mainly for balance I believe, sort of like a cats whiskers or tail. Just an unnecessary appendage swinging uselessly to keep you from walking in circles, dazed, confused and never to be seen again. Isn’t evaluation amazing?

If my left hand was to stop me from walking in circles then it's not doing its job.

I know a man who only has a left arm. I must ask him if he's naturally left handed.

He does have beautiful handwriting.

I reckon that evolution would have been way better if we'd have kept our tails and th ability to swing from tree to tree and climb plus had the brain capacity to be able to send men to the moon.

I've always been a little bit disappointed with the clumsiness of the human body.

We're quite disabled as a species.

Totally agree, I’ve always wondered if there was ever a point between when we first decided it was a good idea to walk on two legs and grow thumbs but before we learned to build houses and high powered rifles that we almost got ourselves extinct. Seems like there was a good period of time where we would have made ideal disabled prey. Like an undersized, mentally retarded and uncoordinated baby bison in wolf country
