Great movie, one of my favorites.

The new joker movie may not be realistic, over the top, but magnification of a truth can still be compelling. Looking forward to this one.

Most of the other “psychopaths” in film would actually be variations on other personality disorders (mostly npd and ppd), undoubtedly antisocial but not psychopathically so.

Just antisocial ones that have not been mentioned off the top of my head are Ils and Man bites dog.

I loved the character in that movie BUT, I feel like a psychopath would find a more effective weapon other than an entire oxygen tank and hand valve, like give me a break

Javier Bardem played his role so well, admire the ability to do so, but so did Tommy Lee Jones, as the sheriff who could not longer deal with how treacherous the world has become. I don't think it was about either of them specifically, it was about how well their characters fit the story, and how well they pulled off telling that story.

Without a doubt, No Country For Old Men takes the crown. At least for the psychopaths in movies category. Also agree with Fargo, season 1. Lorne Malvo is a great character.

I also think that the android "David" in Prometheus and Alien Covenant would be a pretty convincing psycho if he weren't an android to begin with.

As a sexually submissive male I'm always on the lookout for evil, sadistic women in movies and my two favorites of all times both seem to me to be pretty convincing psychopaths. Although perhaps one more than the other. The more realistic one is Mona Demarkov in Romeo Is Bleeding. How I wish I were Gary Oldman in that flick, lol. The other is Fatima Blush in Never Say Never Again, the Bond movie. She's too over the top though to be realistic but she seems to have all the main traits required to qualify.

A very smart call-out.

It’s a bolt pistol isn't it? One of those things they use for killing livestock. Given its from a Cormac McCarthy novel is probably supposed to be symbolic.

I disagree. I still say Edwin (the doctor) in the movie Predators is the perfect example of a psychopath.

He pretends to be someone harmless and innocent, until the end when he shows his true colors so to speak. That's what a psychopath does. He pretends to be someone he's not to gain your trust, so you'll put your guard down with him.

The Predator series is a little too low brow for my discerning self but I'll have to watch that now, purely based on your comment, Reaper.

I gave up with the predator franchise about 30mins into predator 2. Bill Paxton’s histrionics made me want to put him down with a gas powered bolt gun.
