Impulsivity and recklessness

We used to throw frogs off the motorway bridge at trucks. I thought that was normal when I was growing up.

I've been to many a job interview high as a kite after being up
All night as well. It's funny when they tell you to take a seat and you tell them "it's ok mate I like standing up".

I set a fire in an interview room in the magistrates court because I poured a bottle of poppers into an ash tray and then lit it. That caused a bit of a scene.

Sounds like something that could have happened to me. I used to strap dirt bikes to the roof of the car. No trailer? No problem. I'm clearly a genius: Just ride it onto the roof, denting the bonnet along the way. Had to climb in through the window because the door wouldn't open with straps going through the window frame. F*cking morons in hindsight but while it was happening it felt ingenious.

What has your experiences been, specifically if you can give a real life example of something you did impulsively or recklessly. What you were thinking leading to that decision or what you weren’t thinking. Now the tricky part, hindsight being 20/20 why do you think you did it looking back and what were the consequences if any of the decision?

I've been thinking about this thread today. This is a good thing because I've never before thought about the reasons for my behaviour.

I've came to the conclusion that there are a few reasons for it.

Attention seeking for sure and with that I used to like to get an emotional reaction from people as well.

Also to make chaos and then just stand back and watch.

And sometimes just because it was so fcking funny.

There are probably more reasons as well.

Act first, think later.

usually my best friends stop me from doing stupid $#%^ but most of this happens when they aren't around
-snuck my little sister into highschool the same day i brought a hydroflask full of whiskey and got drunk in my biology class
I almost got caught for it too, the whole school started spreading rumors about it (most of them true) and some teachers heard and questioned the people I sit near. They knew but they're homies and didn't snitch. Forever grateful for that. They almost called me down to the office but I got picked up early that day to go to a lacrosse game. The next day I picked the lock of a door that led into the pipes in the walls of the school and hid the waterbottle about 100 feet in. I picked it up on the last day of school and the smell was finally out.

-openly did drugs almost everyday in spanish class with the crackheads in the corner while lying to my some of my goody good friends sitting 20 feet away about never having done anything. I ended up almost failing the final (62) but made it out with a B as my overall grade and the friends I made in that class are both some of my favorite people and some of my most useful connections.

-my abusive parents found some texts between me and a guy and tried to take my phone and my laptop. i finally snapped and started cursing them out and punching my mother. my father started dragging me around the house and throwing me into furniture. i took 200 dollars and ran away from my house. my parents called the cops and lied about everything that happened. the next day i asked my brother to set me up with a trap phone from his dealer friend. he told me it would be about 600 bucks, and seeing as I didn't have the money, I almost gave somebody a blow job for 100 bucks.
a few days later when the bruises from the fight came through I hit myself with a metal block until the bruises on my leg became about ten times worse. it took up about half my thigh and wrapped almost all the way around. It was at least five different colors and visably bumped up from my skin. My parents didn't notice but everyone from school did. I lied and told them I'd fallen off a wall. I later lied again to my best friends and told them my parents had done it. My parents didn't notice until I blackmiled my mother with it and she told me if my father went to jail we wouldn't have any money because she doesn't have a job, and my brother and sisters future would be ruined. I hadn't talked to my little sister in about two years at that point so I didn't care but my brother is the only family member I liked and I wanted clothes and money, so I gave it up.

Someone said this to me some time ago: "If you want my advice, repeat this line to yourself several times a day...'Just because it's funny, doesn't make it right.'"

One of the more useful things people have said, at least it would be if I ever took any notice of it at the time.
