Hi,
I am a first time visitor of this forum and I am feeling totally frustrated by a life of destructive behaviors that have defined me since I was an adolescent. I am also an addict that I am sure is a symptom of my ASPD. SO here is my dilemma. I have tried for years to work a 12 step program as it is suggested and the way it is suggested and find that I cannot in any meaningful way. Primarily b/c I cannot attach and connect to others. I hate when I'm always told that I don't get connected. I have NEVER been able to form any meaningful relationship and a 12 step setting is not the exception. I'm hoping to hear from others that may experience the same dilemma as I and have perhaps found a way.

What is this 12-step program supposed to help with?
Yeah well, whatever I guess, I don't care either way.

In my experience, the 12 steps program is a sham for soul collection. It is funded on shame and it is built to trap the people in it by making them think they are powerless. Please contact a proper therapist to discuss your issues.
Could you tell me a little bit more about yourself and the problems you have been having? Maybe someone on here has relevant experiences.

I'm guessing your life is mundane without these things, so I think logically to get over these issues, you would need a substitute of equal/higher value.

You sound a lot like me. I've struggled with addiction for 16 years now and I spent years of my life sincerely attempting 12 step programs. I just can't feel like part of the group, I can't connect to a higher power, and I don't think I'm helpless. Honestly, the program is stupid.
