Money, money, money.
Everything is easier with it.
You can't live without it.
If some other goals come up, money will definitely make it (much) easier.
Anybody who claims otherwise is either stupid or lying.
Eitherways, wrong.

You say money is your end goal but that it's to make everything else easier which sounds like you understand it's a vehicle that gives you access and you're not chasing money for money's sake-- so what's the end goal -- what would you do with it?

Money actually feels like a huge gamble to me. If I don't save enough of it I won't be able to continue to enjoy my freedom as I age; if I don't spend enough before I die then what was the point of earning it in the first place?
I'm not crazy. My reality is just different from yours.

Not true. We did, for a week at least.

When I was a kid we had no money at one stage. I don't know why. Maybe we were on the run from the law or someone (I have a memory of us being chased by the cops once and being told to keep my head down, though the memory is a little bit foggy, so I can't be certain what the situation was). We ended up out in the middle of nowhere it seemed and sought work at this farm that grew beans. We spent the entire week picking beans (even my brother and I had to work even though we were young kids) and that's all we had to eat, beans every night.

After a week we moved on again. I don't remember where we ended up after that, but we did settle down again at some point and got decent food on the table.

That week we were piss poor broke is one of my favorite memories because nobody could afford to buy alcohol, which meant there were no arguments and fights. We stayed in this rundown house that had no power or running water, so we had to work together to get what we needed. Everybody seemed to get along better because of it.

I agree chasing money for the sake of chasing money at the expense of other experiences is like a dog chasing its tail. Even if you catch it then what? You will have likely wasted most of your good years by then. There should be a balance, I know this all too well.

What's your ultimate objective in life. What do you really hope to achieve before death takes you? Are you motivated purely by selfish desire or do you desire to help others in some way?

My objective has been to build a life....

... with sufficient success so that the rudimentary basics of life are covered with some to spare for enjoyment, and to share those resources with those I care for. That's accomplished.

... with sufficient time and freedom to do what I wish to do, and to share it with those I care for. That's accomplished.

... that shows that I've learned a thing or two about love, and that I love. ...that, when I die, my part of the world has been made better because I was in it. ...that the people I leave behind felt my love, and that it continues within them as real love does. Still working on this but good progress is being made.

I think that living only for myself would be a total waste of a good life.
