Decision taking

How is your decision taking process? Do you decide quickly? Slowly? Think over it for ages, calculate pros and cons, etc? (feel free to skip the rest of the post, this is the basic topic to discuss)

My girl told me today that, for all the big amount of time it - apparently - takes me to think over stuff before deciding, I am surprisingly fast to make "bad" decisions.

It is true that I do need time to think stuff over. My thinking process can be as fast or as slow as the time allows, meaning, the more time I feel I have, the more I will ponder over something before making up my mind. However events never seem to wait for me, so I always end up making either completely random decisions, like going for the first thing that came to mind the second I had to decide, ignoring all the previous thought process. Or often I try to take "half-decisions", like make things move on, but without completely blocking myself from deciding either way at the end. The random thing more often

I thrive under pressure. When it comes down to do or die I deliver everytime. Otherwise I'd been locked up or dead by now.

I tend to make a lot of impulsive decisions in my day to day life, but when there is something I want to do that is potentially dangerous and risky I will stop and plan ahead while considering all possible outcomes. I can be very methodical. I may not stick to the plan though. I have a tendency to just roll with whatever's happening at that moment.

One thing I've noticed from experience is that when I'm in a crisis situation it's like time slows down and I can see everything clearly, which gives me plenty of time to make my next move.

It depends.

When it comes to basic needs, i will make decisions quickly and impulsively.

When it comes to everything else, i tend to ruminate on the potential outcomes.

Adding pressure to the situation only makes me think quicker and become more focused. When there is not a lot of pressure, i will take my sweet ass time and make sure i cross all my t's and dot my i's.

You were a homeless drug addict bud, I think we can safely say that descision making is not your strong suite.

For myself I’m often very good at making objective decisions but very poor at making personal ones. Deciding the course of a patient’s care or managing part of my grandfather’s property portfolio come very easily, whilst those which require me to engage emotionally with the issue tend to be more difficult.

I know what I want to do but I dont plan it much so I need to get my finger out of my a.ss and do what I want but is it smart? I may take steps instead for the whole thing.

madness00 wrote:I abused alcohol, cocaine, wellbutrin

Addict - a person who is addicted to a particular substance, typically an illegal drug.
synonyms: abuser, user

An addict is someone who abuses drugs. So, madness, how exactly did you abuse drugs while not being an addict?

Also, he claimed to be homeless, but he wasn't because he had a place to live:

Homeless - (of a person) without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets.

Haha, you're both obsessed with me.

Well for starters, i've never experienced withdrawal.

In regards to the group home, yes, that's where i am now, after homelessness.

Lol how long did it take you to create that post Reaper. You either went through the trouble of gathering all those quotes, or have a file on me. Both equally pathetic.

You're not that interesting, dude.

In regards to the group home, yes, that's where i am now, after homelessness.

So, you were actually living on the streets for awhile? If so, why?

What happened to the wonderful, supportive family you also claimed to have?

Lol how long did it take you to create that post Reaper.

Not long at all. The search button is very helpful.
