We instinctively look for things that make a good partner and so we'll focus on things that accentuate sexuality.
So, no matter how great you feel inside, men will still (generally) be more attracted to women who look a certain way.
We'll listen to them more, give way to them easier, see what they say and do in a more favourable light, buy more stuff from them, be more courteous and allow them to influence our decisions.
If you look like a bag of hammers, it doesn't matter how great you feel inside, you will be at a disadvantage. So, if you really care about yourself and no one else, then you'll make yourself look whichever way gets you what you need.
