thanks for that information. i wanted to take it again to see if i can answer metaphorically,or change answers to see what happens,
but it is too long to be bothered.
i can answer most questions of any test with:what do you mean ,it depends, sometimes i do sometimes i don't.it depends on my mood lol.and many other things.
(the schizotypal questions at tests are always tempting lol .do you see ghosts,do you believe in magic)

(i went to see about theory of mind and narcissism. is very upseting to actually know that the person can see very clearly what you are feeling, but he just doesn't care really.)

It's a weird disorder when looking at Theory of Mind. Funny, all of them are weird, but this one is bizarre.

This is a test of it in young children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjkTQtggLH4

I prefer the adaptations in complexity of that problem where they have a thief who saw the whole event and you ask what he knows about each character's knowledge, and a policeman who was watching the thief and the girls and you're asked what he knows about what everybody else knows. This is why people with autism don't like fiction. They have to keep track of every character's knowledge at once and they cant do that very proficiently.

I thought the problem was more with their imagination. They find it hard to imagine the characters in their mind, which would make it harder for them to really enjoy the story.

It must be some wiring in their brain that is fuked up, causing that problem.

I can't relate to it. I've always liked reading fiction. I used to read a lot of it when I was younger. It took me away from real life for awhile.

Lots of autistic people love sci fi and stuff of that nature (generally genre based fiction) which is technical or domain specific but requires imagination. It's the issue of multiple perspectives that forces them out of egocentricity that they find confusing in most fiction.

I concur. I think the best analogy to understand it is the ToM impaired are like young children who think everyone has their thoughts, their wants, and their desires.

The brain does not mature out of this phase of development. In fact autism is considered a developmental disorder.

Here's some more bizzaro stuff: http://paulcooijmans.com/genius/associa ... rizon.html

The article links a special ability, with a disability. It's not a quick read, but worth it. I think you could expand or apply it to here, and to other PDs.

I always find this stuff fascinating.

I don't know enough about autism to either agree or disagree with you on that, SS.

In fact, I knew nothing about it until I watched this show on Netflix awhile ago about this kid who has autism. It really opened my eyes just how much it affects their life. The show wasn't based on real people but fictional characters, so I don't know how accurate it was. It was quite interesting anyway.

I can't remember the name of it now otherwise I'd mention it.

Your score was 31 out of a possible 50.
Scores in the 26-32 range indicate some Autistic traits (Aspergers Syndrome).
Lol ok

That is really insightful! I can't verify that but it's just so easy to accept that based on what I do know. Again, insightful

Fog reminds me a bit of that annoying dude with the "doctor of psychology" wife. Only more refined.
