I’m sticking with Blackadder as the pinnacle other sitcoms aspire to. Dwarf is one of the few which could offer competition though.

Something about RD holds up better for me. Watched a bit recently, actually. Those first five or so seasons have some of the most imaginative storylines on any film format - it’s basically the smarter offspring of Seinfeld and Star Trek, with a blank-cheque setting.
Brits might fail at the Ashes most of the time, but they’ve always made the best comedy. Even something like Keeping Up Appearances is better than 99% of American sitcoms (especially through the 90s).
Only complaint about the BBC, is that Father Ted hasn’t been given given a film yet.

Mary Katherine (Merricat) from a book called We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley (can't remmeber last name) is relatable to my alter joey 1 in a way. they're both borderline sociopaths.

Shirley Jackson, the most influential female horror writer save perhaps Mary Shelley.

I am an idiot. I've had this book on my shelf for ages because the character was relatable.
Marnie (from the book, not the movie).
