Relatable fictional characters

Postby SweetSlumber » Wed Jul 19, 2017 7:55 pm

Are there any fictional characters you can relate to/find similar to you?

I was just watching Taxi Driver and I thought the main character (Travis) was very similar to my brother. They are retarded in a similar way. I've read Travis was possibly schizoid/schizotypal?

When I was a teen I was somewhat into anime and I found the character Haruhi Suzumiya relatable. I remember I even wore yellow ribbons to school in her resemblance.

People like to relate the joker in The Dark Knight to aspd. An extreme example obviously.

I grew up without any figure that I deemed worthwhile. I started "absorbing personalities" just like a chameleon camouflages himself with his environment. I was, as far as I can tell, selecting traits and values that attracted me. Obviously, it's something I can only explain today while looking back. During my development, both my environment and my genes were influencing me unconsciously; I had no power, no say on the matter. It was like a magnet and certain characters where clearly having an impact on me more than others. It's as if everything was already set, as if my unconscious knew what ingredients to shop for what was needed.

Many fictional characters have had an impact, to a certain extent, on who I ended up being. But the state of oneself is constantly in motion, always changing, and the one who had the biggest impact on my life arrived quite late. "Goku Black" represents me most as a whole. I can't stop myself from mentioning Martin Heidegger's Being and Time when I think of that particular character and "my future self."

Go to your room, you're grounded.
I'm a modern mother, not a believer of physical acts of discipline, otherwise there would be some proper spanking coming to your way as well.
