I know a guy who did 15 yrs in a max security prison. Also AsPD.
He can sometimes astound me at his sensitivity to being insulted or threatened. He's come back at me, and I've watched him do the same to others, from a simple remark, and put a meaning on it that wasn't intended.
When it happens with me, I challenge him on it because I know what my intention is and it isn't as he reacted. Still, he's adamant that I meant it as he took it.
There's a hypersensitivity to him that's most likely been engrained in him from being inside. I don't fault him for that; he's had a tough life. Still, he's making it tougher on himself outside by fighting with others when there's no need to fight, or defend, or threaten, or establish a strong presence. It's just his way of declaring himself. I'm one of the increasingly few people who'll still interact with him, and I'm guarded.
Not that you've been in prison, xena, but you think you might have a touch of hypersensitivity to certain things? I read through this exchange and that's the way I'm reading it.
