Some of the stuff done by Hogarth I find interesting. Two famous depictions are Gin Land and Beer Street. Two paintings that were done to point out the dangers of gin and the benefits of beer.
If you have an interest, I'd suggest looking up larger scale images and looking more closely at the detail.
