i suffer with alot of mental problems, but i dont even know what they are! i have seen 3 psychiatrists in the past, but the one i remember most is 'dr. bert' {thats what i called him anyway! he was dutch n had a really wierd name} he gave me about 6 different diagnosis' in the 3 months i saw him, rangeing from social anxiety to schizophrenia. every time i saw him he would up my dosage on the 'trankemazeen' i was taking {<< spelt very very wrong! lol} he went on to giving me harder medication, and each time it would knock me out for longer. sometimes i would sleep all day, and sometimes i didnt even know what i was taking. it didnt seem 2 help me at all. then one day he prescribed me Seroxat, something i had been warned not to ever take because it causes suicidal, sometimes homocidal tendencies. i said this to my Dr. but he dismissed it and said it would be fine. that day i went home and me and my mum researched it on the internet and found that it had been banned in the UK because of the reactions people have when they come off of it.

QUOTE: "A possible class action lawsuit is being organized against GlaxoSmithKline in regards to the company's anti-depressant drug Seroxat. The suit alleges that the drug is a "defective product" under the Consumer Protection Act, and further claims that it causes users to have suicidal tendencies and withdrawal symptoms, and to display aggressive behaviour. The US version of this drug is Paxil"

of course it helps some people, but i wasn't willing to take the risk. when i told my Dr that i wasn't going to take it, he then refused to see me anymore. i have since lost trust in psychiatrists. they are clearly not out to help the patient, but are in it for the money they are making.

I'm not sure what to say. You have had a bad experience but that doesnt mean you should give up,try seeking help again, it doesn't have to be from a psychiatrist
