How to remove psychiatric diagnosis from medical records ?

Psychiatric disorders are not medical diseases. There are no lab tests, brain scans, X-rays or chemical imbalance tests that can verify any mental disorder is a physical condition. This is not to say that people do not get depressed, or that people can’t experience emotional or mental duress, but psychiatry has repackaged these emotions and behaviors as “disease” in order to sell drugs. This is a brilliant marketing campaign, but it is not science.

There are alot theories out there claiming lifes problems are "biologicaly based" but none of these theories are able to explain how so many people with mental and emotional problems recover completely 100% .

How can insurance say you have a pre-existing condition ? Again there are no lab tests, brain scans, X-rays or chemical imbalance tests to confirm your DSM 'forever label' , its not like diabetes that has many tests...

To avoid these problems, here is "an ounce of prevention..."

I maintain my right not to have any psychiatric evaluation or diagnosis based upon the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) as such diagnoses are unreliable. According to Allen Frances, who was chairman of the fourth edition of DSM, “There are no objective tests in psychiatry—no X-ray, laboratory, or exam finding that says definitely that someone does or does not have a mental disorder.” (“Psychiatric Fads and Overdiagnosis,” Psychology Today, 2 June 2010.) Additionally, the DSM system is not scientific. It’s own editors state that “there is no assumption that each category of mental disorder is a completely discrete entity with absolute boundaries dividing it from other mental disorders or from no mental disorder.” (DSM-IV, pg. xxii)
Such codes and descriptions should not be entered into my medical records as this unreliable and unscientific information will remain in my records and may wrongly influence any future medical treatment I might receive, cause future insurance and even employment problems.

Information on removal of psychiatric diagnosis 'forever label' from medical records wanted.
I survived psychiatry.

I don't have that info but you are so right. A diagnosis on record can ruin you life. I went to the Dr and got meds about 10 years ago. Im not on meds anymore but the label is still in my medical records. With electronic med records everything we say to our doctors is no longer confidential. Suddenly every doctor we see will know what no longer applies. I have never been to a psychiatrist so I really should not have a diagnosis on record. I have depression and social anxiety but I still work and have a family.

Indeed, info needed.

I was blatantly misdiagnosed multiple times and had this confirmed by multiple doctors. I intend to ask my health care provider who I need to see to amend my records, as what was written in them have caused me problems.

I may post an update on this at some later point, but don't hold breath.

Success.

Called member services, explained how I felt. They setup a phone appointment with a nurse practitioner who listed my bipolar diagnosis as "resolved" which he explained meant that while it would not be completely excised from my records, any doctor going through them would know that it was a misdiagnosis, as a correct bipolar diagnosis is lifelong. It is now no longer found on my chart (and obvious to anyone looking at it).

As for the anxiety disorder, he said it's possible I may have never qualified for the diagnosis, or I may have had it, but it went away over time. This was also listed as resolved, but I did not receive acknowledgement that it was the result of unprofessional conduct, which I believe it was.

As for a bipolar diagnosis having been made, and then removed, I do not know what this means for background checks (for positions that have security clearance), ownership of a firearm, or possession of a pilot's license.
