It sounds like a nightmare. What do your parents think about you diagnosis and being forced to take meds?

Have you tried to gain support from anyone else?

Keep a diary of all your dealings with doctors, what they tell you, what treatments, and what they prescribe. I say this because you may want to take legal action against the doctors in the future.

I am sorry to hear about your medication experience.

What drug did he give you? Strattera and Depakote can cause the sympoms that your are experencing. Even though you are under 18 -you can ask him about the potential side effects and a change in treatment. Also, because of your age, your parents are your best advocate. Be sure to talk to them in a factural and mature manner without a lot of emotions and tell them your concerns. They can accompany you in to the doctors office and have any treatment discontinued. Other options include suggesting to your parents that you would be more comfortable with another Dr because you want a second opinion about your medications. The last option is to have your teacher's complete a rating scale regarding your exhibited behaviors at school. You can request to have the school psychologist speak to you at school. The place to start is to discuss your concerns with your high school guidance counselor. However, before the school psych can begin any formal evaluations other than a classroom observation -they will need your parent's consent.

You do have rights even though you are a minor.
