Accept the voices don't fear them!

Postby AnonymousPoser » Mon Sep 26, 2011 10:11 pm

I'm reading a book, 'Muses, Madmen, and Prophets'. Many famous philosophers heard them, Socrates, and even Joan of Arc heard voices. They are an interesting part of human culture which now are a cause to be locked up, medicated and shunned. I've come to the realization I should hide the existence of the voices from my psych docs and keep them with me. ANTIPSYCH!

Read the Bible which is probably the most famous book for people hearing voices - "And the Lord spoke to me and said."
Sometimes the devil speaks too.
There are a lot of less popular religious books and spiritual type books and websites and voices are always talking to people.
Does anyone realize a lot of these 'voices" are positive?
I'll admit there are some bad guys out there (or in there) that infest the brain. And people fear them. The point is you need to master them and become their ruler, not letting them rule you. It can take some time and a lot of pitfalls along the way.
I have thought like this: If you obey your voices commands and bow to them, you will end up in a nut house. If you master your voices and let them know who is boss, you will be okay. You might even become a millionaire. More than a few rock musicians and actors have done this. In my opinion Ozzy Osbourne is the best known because he actually wrote about his voices and mental issues in a lot of his songs. I know Jimi Hendrix did too but he kept a lot to himself and his depression led to his indulgence in alcohol and pills, which killed him. Ozzy on the other hand is in his 60s, bipolar, hears voices, and made millions using his disability as an ability. he has a family and kids. Not bad, even if he is "crazy" and I mean no offense - he himself admits it.
Meanwhile, some people, including some doctors would have us all working at McDonalds or some gas station for minimum wage!
I am not completely anti-psych, but if I detect they are trying to hold you back in order to make you "normal" I'd just tell them to call Ozzy or Arnold Schwarzenegger. I've heard Schwarzenegger has a mental illness, and he even vetoed funding for mental health in California when he was governor. Obviously this guy probably had at least some grandiose issues. He is invincible in his movies, he makes the rules or breaks them. (I like True Lies over some of his more famous movies). then he did actually become a governor of a state, so the act of being in power was no longer an act.
If psychologists work with you and encourage you to succeed, and agree with you that minimum wage jobs are no place for you, along with working with you to balance out the more extreme issues associated with some disorders, then I'm okay with working with them.
