Okay I give up.

Sad girl: this thread would be topic appropriate if you and "guest" would write about what I originally started the thread for.

January,

This is really bad thing to admit but I just found out your original post has got a link attached.

If you click on Link!

Theres a link that goes to here http://www.doctoryourself.com/caffeine2.html

I'm so sorry, I didn't recognise that Link! was actually a link.

I am an old fart and I obviously aren't as computer savy as you. Duh! It just didn't stand out as a link.

This is a link. http://www.doctoryourself.com/caffeine2.html

Well, your posts makes a hell of a lot more sense with the link and I can see why your getting so pissed off with my responses.

Sorry again!

I wonder if anyone missed the link?

Duh!

I've re read the thread with the context of the link included. It's very funny. No one else seems to make any reference to the linked page.

You need to make your links more obvious January.

Oh well, at least no harm done.

January, I put in my two cents worth.
I have nothing against caffiene, except that yes it can become an addiction.

I do not see it related to being anti-psych though.

Everyone has their opinons.

so the word "link" in all caps with an exclamation point after it... wasn't obvious... :?

Glad you understand.

And sadgirl, if you don't understand how promoting awareness that the things people do eveyday are effecting their mental state, and that most of them coud benefit not from drugs or doctors visits, but by simple lifestyle changes, than it's not that you don't understand how my post relates to anti-psych, but it's that you don't understand the anti-psychiatry movement period.

First of all, I apologise again for missing your link. I wrote a lot of unnecessary $#%^ because I missed it.

I agree with January, this thread contains important information regarding the distressing and adverse effects of caffeine. It is clear from the LINKed article that people's intake of caffeine and the possible adverse effects can be misinterpreted as a mental illness.

This thread will hopefully alert people (that read it) with a high caffeine intake that are feeling distressed that they should reduce their caffeine intake to see if the symptoms subside before seeking help.

We need to remember that psychiatry has not developed any diagnostic exam for any mental illness disorder. However, they readily prescribe medication designed (they say) to target specific chemical imbalances. Without any diagnostic exam, how do they know what they are targeting? This is pure unscientific quackery!

Whatever information that can make people re-think their situation, before they make an appointment to consult one of these quacks is indeed anti-psychiatry.

I used to have a friend from China who had drunk green tea all her life but one day decided to try coffee. It was her first ever coffee and the result was about what you would expect if you gave a five year old speed!
For most people coffee drinking (and caffeine) is not a problem as we develop a tolerance to our normal consumption. What can be a problem though is withdrawal if you don't get your regular fix. Whether this may be deemed a psychological disorder I do not know.

I do understand promoting awareness, but I will never agree with the anti-psychiatry movement period, because personally psychiatry has helped me.

To each it's own.

January,

I hope you have a look at the new thread American Lifestyle Causes Mental Illness when/if you get a chance.

quiet-loner

In the past I used to drink coffee everyday and built up what you might call a tolerance. I also have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and anxiety disorder.

I used to drink 5-10 cups of strong brewed coffee a day, (a good tolerance you would say).

My symptoms were always exacerbated by drinking coffee but I didn't twiq because drinking coffee is normal, everybody does it.

When I finally woke up, giving up coffee/cigs aliviated my anxiety symptoms! I also became a full on health nut, organic fruit veg diet which also greatly helped.

I don't think your theory of building up a tolerance is the answer!

Moderation is the way to go!

What what you eat-you are what you eat!
