Coercive Psychiatry, Right, Wrong or just dont know?

i got court ordered into a p hospital last year at first i refused their treatment then we went to court and i had to take the meds i was feelig quite crazy off them but i didnt like it that i was court ordered to take them

I knew nothing of this type of thing that went on...actually it was before I was born ...but still I have never heard of it till you posted something about it.

I sure hope that your country can manage to decrease the amount of CTO handed out yearly. Do you have any idea why it is so high whee you live?

May 2nd is a day of rememberance and resistance, the resistance component is on going. Please note; 200,000 psychiatric patients were murdered because of the eugenics policies that Hilter and his cronies adopted from the 1900.

Pyschiatry has its roots in eugenics, 200,000 psych patients were murdered between 1939 and 1948 because they were viewed as having bad genes or faulty biology.

These are the same basic reasons CTO's are applied to people this very day.

Psychiatry has yet to scientifically prove any of the basic underlying assumptions for any of its claims, such as a gene or biological cause for any so called psychiatric illness, just like the shrinks from the 1900 and Hitlers 3rd reich. Psychiatrist today still prescribe harmfull dangerous drugs to disable the mind of anyone they see unfit to be a member of society. Sure they just don't blatntly gas them in chambers these days, but the people the (so call) treat minds are destroyed by mind disabling drugs.

We are not just talking about the past here Kathy, the resistance needs to be as strong as ever.

Here is a brief article on the American Psychiatric Associations eugenics policies of the 1940's.

Foster Kennedy's 1942 American Journal of Psychiatry article is a horrifying historical example of U.S. mental health professionals' advocacy of the eugenics movement in the U.S.

In May, 1941, Foster Kennedy addressed the 97th annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association, and his remarks were published the following year in the American Psychiatric Association's journal of record.

In "The Problem of Social Control of the Congenital Defective: Education, Sterilization, Euthanasia" (American Journal of Psychiatry, July, 1942, vol. 99, pages 13-16), Kennedy stated that "We have too many feebleminded people among us. . ."

Kennedy advocated the solution endorsed by many in the eugenics movement up to that time: "I believe when the defective child shall have reached the age of five years . . . that the case should be considered under law by a competent medical board." The board would be authorized "to relieve that defective . . . of the agony of living."

This would enable the race to eliminate that which was ugly and pass on the beautiful: "Should the social organism grow up and forward to the desire to relieve decently from living the utterly unfit... then... thereafter civilization will pass on and on in beauty."

The journal printed an editorial following Kennedy's article, endorsing Kennedy's approach and emphasizing the important role that all psychiatrists could play in letting parents know that euthanizing severely disabled children was humane and that it was kind to put an end to what Kennedy had termed "nature's mistakes."

I would urge that those interested in this topic read the horrifying documents of the U.S. eugenics movement first-hand."

I hope this helps explain why people with schizophrenia (and others) are forced to take dangerous mind disabling drugs with horrific side effects, without any proof they have a medical illness or any test to check they have an actual illness.

I seemed to have scared you off with my info that links the APA to the eugenics movement.

Sorry if it's a bit full on but thats where the history of psychiatry leads to.

No, I wasn't scared off...I was surprised that there were photo's from this year's meeting. I have just been ailing physically and haven't been posting all that much. I do read a lot though

I was informed this morning that we have the funds tech skills available to set up our own web site for the Australian May 2nd commemoration. This is great, we will be able to plan for a much bigger event for 2006. I'll let you know when the site is up so you can see our photos.

The eugenics movement was/is full of monsters.

I would be interested in viewing the site once it is up.

On another topic...I haven't seen Havok post in at least a week, have you? I would have though he and a few others would be more active in this part of the forums.

I'm not surprised this forum is quiet, when you have information such as the Surgeon Generals report on Mental Illness and an admission from the APA that they:

Do have any accurate test to diagnose any mental illness.

They have no scientific proof exists that any mental illness exists.

Psychiatry has no idea what cause any mental illness.

Plus the other issues such as the Billion Dollar psychopharmocolgy/social control industry etc.

It's easy for me to understand why this forum is quiet, any one that wishes to challenge anti psych views know it's very difficult given the lack of facts psychiatry exists on.

Kathy, what do you know of President George W. Bush's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health and the plans to screen every American for Mental Illness and forcefully drug them?

I have heard very little about President Bush's plans on this. I do know that he is trying to get something going but beyond that I know nothing.

I will most likely be one that is screened, but I am already on meds for depression. Enough meds to levitate a submarine! I have tried countless times to slowly withdraw from them but I have crashed each time There aren't any meds for DID nor Anorexia so those two diagnosis I still struggle a little with.

I know of other who are able to live with their mental illness without meds but I am not one of them. The last time I tried to quit I practically did myself in ...so no more of that for me.
