Not able to open up.

I've had a very tough tough year. And i went to a great psychologist. But you see. I found it hard to talk. I had emergency brain surgery in October and then i had epilepcy which i just couldn't control. Then i had PTSD. I had that under control. My doc asked about my life at home and how that was. She just, didn't seem to ask the questions i wanted to answer. But i didn't feel comfortable to open up. I wanted to tell her that i had some moments where i was truly worried about my sanity. I wanted to tell her i couldn't handle all the doctors, pills, and tests. I wanted someone to know i was at my breaking point and that i was worried the outcome would be very serious. I thought i could tell her i'm scared. But i just, couldn't.
Now my sister is going for different reasons. I haven't seen that much of a change. I want to help her myself but she won't let me whenever i try.
I dont know what to do. I think i'm okay now but every once in a while, like today, i think of it and brake down, feel like i need help again.

Don't give up just yet, Mikaela. There is still a lot of fighting for you to do.

This is a big problem with therapy and talking a doctor in general. The patient does not feel he/she is in the right to speak-up about his/her problems, and therefore just allows the doctor to do all of the talking. Therapy is a two-way process - i.e. the patient and therapist both talk and the patient asks many questions, if even more than the therapist. If you are having difficulty talking, then would writing your problems/thoughts help? I did that once and then handed the list to my therapist.
