Interesting experience visiting the hospital

Postby whero » Thu Aug 06, 2009 10:11 pm

Pre-thought: I would post this on my blog but since my blog has nothing todo with mental illness I'll post it here.

So I was going to goto the Mall and needed a bus pass. I couldn't figure out if I should walk it or just head to the mall but I ended up thinking it would be a good idea to visit my haunt at Riverview.

I strolled into Riverview and stopped at Penn to ask for information about some sort of help for pascients on extended leave from the hospital who are on a often time visit. No help there just information about going down to a cornerstore or market and getting a bus pass.

I gave up and headed into the hospital hoping that someone could just help out and give out something to make things easier and talked to a lady in her office at the front door. Quickly I mentioned I wanted get down into the city near the hospital where I could see a doctor or specialist or massage therapist for my arm. Then all of a sudden she became ill and started questioning me about what I am doing there and phoning other people to come help. I started to expain the situation slowly to show her that I was fine, although things started getting better when I mentioned that I wanted a bus pass she stopped talking.

The admitting lady came up but I had already talked to her before, she asked a few questions obviously trying to see ... if she could commit me but then she may realized that I was just asking for help. At the end I questioned why they were trying to commit me but they denied it even though she was there and then quickly added if I wanted to be committed and thrown into seclusion.

So all in all I definetely won't go near that place. It's a shame too because the grounds are nice I just wish the people were too.

whero, I will let you in on a little (actually BIG) secret: The administration side of every organisation is pathetic, and is filled with people who's minds are solely focussed on what they'll be doing AFTER work - i.e. in their social life. These are the core group of NTs (or normal people) and they dominate administration offices like the Black Death plague. I never expect much from dealing with such people anymore, and neither should you. The less you expect from them, the less angry you'll be when dealing with them.

You know what else really gets me is when they say and claim WE don't know that WE have a mental illness. What kind of stuff are they pulling here? REALLY? Are they just trying to make stifles at the ignorance of human capicity to understand it's surroundings. WE built this world. WE are the ones who understand what it is and what our ancestors have done here. They try to take shots at our intelligence by claiming we don't know understand or accept that WE have a mental illness. It's shameless and absurd and it's time we start making a change. WE need to show people that we're not going to let the ignorance of people in power continue. Let's raise arms before democracy crumbles and falls to events like Iran and fall into a 4th world or worse.

You are right whero, but it's not as if they have any intention of hurting you - it's just that they dn't give adamn about their jobs and that's how it comes across as a lack of caring. Ignorance is absolutely everywhere and the word IS quite messed up. The ones who seem to get hurt are the ones whoactually have morals, like you and I. It seems that to be happy in this worlf, you need to have a lot of ignorance yourself.

When I was locked up in a psych hospital one of the staff used to tell a funny story. It turns out that a guy got locked up who claimed he was President of a big CA uni. USC I think. The shrinks didn't believe him and said he was delusional. It took him a week to get proof that he was acually a uni president. Then they released him. The staff guy thought that was funny. I bet the vitctim didn't!

Do you mean Uni of California Santa Cruz? They have the famous Genome Browser, which is referenced in many scientific papers, and which I have used repeatedly in my own research.

I'm not sure what CA Uni it was. The story just goes to show you what a bunch of jerks people are.
