That was me, of course.

Yowler,

It's clear from your posts you don't read other peoples, you couldn't have read my post then put a link up to a brain imaging site that says this 'May be a clue'. YAWN

I am fully aware of the Billions of dollars drug companies payout to scientists to do research, it's a huge scam. It's an entire industry on it's own, psychopharmacology use all these inconclusive reports to justify their own existence and fool the gullible. Just like the Eugenics brain boys of the 1900's, they still have no proof, they want to point to the future findings, that have never been found, to justify the damage psychiatry does and the money it makes.

You started this argument saying advances had been made in the diagnosing of mental illness, but you can provide nothing. That was my original point, seems like I won! Unless you wish to me any diagnostic exam that has been developed that the APA and the Surgeon General don't know about?

I have started a new thread called "Results for Fast for Freedom in Mental Health" you can go read that as a reply to the rest.

eh...i didn't read much of this silly list. I didnt feel it was necessary because i think it should be the choice of an individual whether or not they want to be treated with medications. To say that Psychiatry should be completly abolished is to say that even those who have experienced positive, helful effects from medication, should no longer have the option to be treated with them, which i dont think is fair at all.

Psychiatry and medication isnt for everyone, but to say that it should Either Be or Shouldn't be allowed, is not fair for those people who have had different experiences then you.

Hi Becka

Psychiatry has not developed any type of diagnostic test for any mental illness and they cannot find any definative medical cause for any mental illness. Given this, do you think people should be forcefully treated when psychiatry has little understanding of the mind? Please read the thread, "Results for the Fast for Freedom in mental health" where the APA admit this.

Do you think it is right that people are forced to take drugs (with horrific side effects) that do not target any illness, but are only designed to disable the persons mind so they cannot function and use there minds. People that have commited no crime. This is how anti-psychotic medication works Becka.

Do you think psychiatry should be forced to provide a bench mark model of a chemically balanced mentally healthy normal human being before treating anyone? Should they define normality?

I agree with you, if you don't care about the above and you wish to take these drugs and see a shrink GO FOR IT! But I (like many others) DO NOT under any circumstances! The label these quacks have placed on me entitles psychiatry to forcefully (and by law) destroy the functioning of my mind without any scientific medical proof that an illness exists. Psychiatry is an ideology not a science! Pyschiatrists don't like my politics and beliefs, this is why they have forcefully treated me in the past. Do you think this is right?

Wishing you well.

You said: "Psychiatry is an ideology not a science!" I would like to add that Psychiatry is an art. Some psychiatrists can help patients because of their skill with people combined with their observations of medication. I believe that the medicine has some sort of effect on the brain. This effect can at times cause the mood to change. The effect is probably not what we think it is. The brain might get distracted by the chemicals, and reset itself for a time. Sometimes if we go on a vacation, the change can distract us and then made us feel better.

Witch doctors and medicine men have helped their patients. They do things that make people believe that they will be cured. Today, many people really, really believe that pills will make them feel better so their minds do something that helps them. Our minds are quite powerful.

I need to add this as well shrink.

Not all psychiatrists FORCE their clients to take meds, to the point that you are speaking of. That's not the case with ALL people.

Yes it occurs, it does happen but not always.
Medication works for people, and it doesn't.
No one has to be forced to do anything, unless sometimes under psychiatric care, and sometimes people need to be under restraint etc if there is a chance of them hurting themselves.

Mental illness is here to stay from what it looks like.
Alot of people suffer, but there are ways to deal with them through proper treatment.

I agree when James says that medicine has some sort of effect on the brain, that can cause mood to change. There are postive effects to that and negative effects. Not everyone is going to have good results on meds, and some people will.

I don't think that all psychiatry is forced.....
I for one was never forced to do this or that.
I did it by choice, people have more choice these days then they did back then. There is a choice to take meds, or not.

Some people can refuse to take medication, and feel like complete crap, and when they have gone on it they do feel better. Some people need it, others don't to help them function well.

I for one have always benefited like I said from seeing a psychiatrist and from medication.

I do know people who have had a hard time.. so again it goes either way.

I have a feeling that I'm repeating myself here, or rambling on a bit so I'm going to end this post as I don't want to go too far off topic.

No I had a terrible 4 year experience. Psychiatry has no means of accurately diagnosing any mental illness, it's all talk and their own subjective opinion. There is nothing medical or scientific about it, yet they have incredible power to forcefully drug you with horrendous drugs. I went through 4 years of hell at a whim of a quack that didn't like me.

I am seeking legal advice and I hope to take him for every cent he's got.

To hell with psychiatry and all it's evil advocates.!
