Are these questions facetious? I've also had bad experiences at the hands of professionals who have been well thought-of by others (though fortunately nothing as bad as those that Mesmerized described).

Instead of disbelieving her at every turn, why not give her the benefit of the doubt? Anybody has the right to see their medical chart and it's not unusual to have remarks put on charts such as "whinger" and "makes up symptoms" which will prejudice further treatment.

No the questions are not facetious - they are serious questions. What the hell are you talking about? I'm wondering how she's doing ffs!

How you could possibly interpret those as facetious is beyond me. But what's more interesting is that you ask the question "Are these questions facetious" and then you don't even wait for an answer before assuming I am insincere. The rationale for asking the question is I realized we were on different wavelengths, we weren't going to uncover unethical treatment, and we needed common ground.

I do have a question for you however. You say:

Anybody has the right to see their medical chart and it's not unusual to have remarks put on charts such as "whinger" and "makes up symptoms" which will prejudice further treatment.

I find this very interesting. So would you have a study showing how often this actually happens? Or is it a supposition?

You mentioned Freud treating or referring to patients like they were trash. I found it interesting because the book I'm reading, "Psychology" by Wade-Travis mentions that he is more regarded by some "empirically-oriented" psychologists to be more philosophical. Plus he wasn't even the person to turn psychology into a science (William Wundt is). It makes me think about how he is more widely acknowledge by the majority when some psychologists don't consider him to be more of a philosopher.

To your past situation, that is wrong. You should seek someone who can help you get your records. Unfortunetly I don't know who you see about that, but try searching the web. Get someone who can help explain the notes. You should also read your state laws. Some states give people with mental illness very little rights.

I refused treatment from a psychiatrist once and got the same third person followed with people coming to my house. I was going to get a new one who would diagnose me right and explained to them that she put me on the wrong meds. I did get treated like an incompetent by another doctor. I read notes on my reviews saying I wasn't complying from other doctors. The last part is true, but the doctors know there are different approaches to treatment and there are different types of people. Trying to fix people like they are all the same is not going to get people to want help. It drives people away. I personally haven't been to a psychiatrists in three years.
