Oppositional Defiant Disorder

This has rather amusing consequences for the study of history, doesn't it? French Revolution, Russian Revolution etc. - forget oppression and dictatorship, this answers everything. Might as well throw away my history books and being a anarcho-commie-pinko-liberal-whatever I better make an appointment with my psychiatrist again.

guydebord, if you tried hard enough, you could diagnose everybody on the planet with some type of mental disorder. So, while you feel Oppositional Defiant Disorder may explain the background to certain wars/conflicts, it isn't a very productive way to use a mental disorder as a cause of events. I don't feel that I am being clear, but do you understand what I am saying?

Picture it like this: If you went your route, then people may become exonerated for committing crimes (because it could be viewed that it was their mental illness tha caused it, and not them).

Sorry for being confusing. I meant that you came across that you didn't agree with the idea that oppositional defiant disorder is at the root of social uprisings but thought that the O.P. did agree with that. I thought the O.P. was being sarcastic but I didn't think that you caught that.

Oh right, but from what I gathered, the OP was being serious. I was being serious in my response too. One thing you should know about me, however, is that I'm a very serious guy. I invariably take everything that is said as a serious comment (unless it is pre-specified as a joke!).
