Why an 'anti psych' forum?

Exactly, edgnbd! Or how about being given a powerful antipsychotic (Thorazine) when your actual diagnosis is OCD? And when you start jumping out of your skin, can't stay still, feel like climbing the walls and tell your pdoc that it's the Thorazine causing all these horrible side effects (known as "akathisia"), he (being the EXPERT, you know ) denies it, calls it "anxiety" and increases your dosage of Thorazine? I was up to 900 mg of Thorazine a day and literally ready to rip my skin off before I finally said, "To hell with this!" and flushed the whole bottle of Thorazine down the toilet. And it took me many more months before all that horrible agitation went away! And guess who was right about the "anxiety"? NOT my know-it-all pdoc, that's for sure!!

Or how about a psych ward which refused to give a fellow patient the meds she desperately needed to keep her kidneys functioning because, they claimed, they could only prescribe psychiatric meds? (Never mind that at the same time and same place, they had no problem giving me the Lipitor I needed for my high cholesterol--hardly a psych med!) This lady ended up in the ER of that same hospital and very nearly went into kidney failure thanks to the idiots on the psych ward--she could have died thanks to their incompetence!!

Then there's my own story of being put in 4-point restraint for an entire night for no reason--I was strapped facedown on a mattress by a pack of goons who laughed at my misery. Plus I was a woman surrounded by men--didn't they have any female orderlies or even nurses on hand to look after women patients?! It was a nightmare and I did NOTHING to deserve it!

Or I could tell you about my friend who has nearly died several times from the antipsychotics forced on her by psychiatrists who ignore her pleas that the meds are making her sick...she's ended up in ICU more than once because her pdocs DO NOT LISTEN!!!

But you mock us as being ignorant anti-intellectuals and anti-psychology/psychiatry. I have a degree in psychology, genius. I have worked in that field. Yes, there are good, intelligent and well-meaning psychiatrists and psychologists. But why are you trying to pretend that all of them are saintly intellectual giants? What is your agenda???

Try educating yourself before insulting us, okay?

Why an anti-psych forum ?

I guess cause psychiatry is based on things fear, total fraud and force plus alot of people are getting hurt by it and the internet is exposing those things. The owners of this site are not going to waste there time trying to cencor out the truth.

Psychiatry, just like oppressive goverments based on fraud fear and force around the world have found the internet and free speach to be a bit of a problem.
