I propose that categories are not science.

Categories are ideas, not material things. Therefore, they are not empirical. Moreover, no scientific experiment can determine whether a category exists. Experiments find correlation between independent and dependent variables. Thus, they cannot determine categorical existence.

Therefore, the entire DSM is bull crap.

Scientific theory has developed quite rapidly in the last 200 years, and in the 20th century. It doesn't not seem psychiatry have advanced very much, besides inventing and cataloging new terminology, or glossary of useful terms. The false positive of diagnoses is probably not that meager by now, as there's an overlap of symptoms and as many clinical approaches as there are shrinks.
