Well this doesn't seem very Hippocratic

So a otherwise healthy 23-year old young woman with depression was euthanised in Belgium. I'm sorry, but I read this as she was too much bother so they let her let herself be killed. A more detailed story than what I've linked, suggests that there were untried therapies and the psychiatrists who signed off on this were being a mite presumptuous. The danger of all this, is who's to say they won't use euthanasia as a knee-jerk way of dealing with difficult mental health issues. I mean, there's the case in Canada where a veteran with PTSD and other issues called the veteran's administration for help and the person who spoke with him just rattled off euthanasia as a choice as if it were as casual a thing as taking an SSRI.

Starting to think a lot of folks hate Humanity.

I'm afraid, that I'm quite indifferent to the story. I neither want to judge the person killed, nor the psychiatrists. This linked story, though, didn't shock me. Moreover: dying, surrounded by once family doesn't sound that bad to me. If she, due to her depression was unable to decide, the others decisions, to let it happen, would for sure have been unethical. I'm afraid, that I won't make many friends here, with this position, but it is, as it is. If there have been therapies untested for her, that too would have to be questioned. But, in my opinion, it should be ones decision to end ones life, if it's too much to bear.
