Knowing what I know I can confidently bet he spent years being abused at their hands. Once the feeling of safety, control and certainty disappear sitting with the irreversible trauma I can certainly see him not leaving his home. His mother trying to commit him engages feelings of betrayal and fear causing him to finally act out in despair- a type of warped self defense move.
Its a theory, but its not a complete secret how bad CT and MA psychiatry is nor all the do gooding experts who believe in ABA, experimentation, or unorthodox therapy. And if I were Herald Schwartz I'd read the reviews for my concentration camp while addressing all the psychiatric survivors it created before having the hubris to speak to the nation as someone pretending to be benevolent.

The blood is entirely on the hands of psychiatry, not the victims it created only to then use the melt down as an opportunity to champion for mental health. People wonder where evil comes from. It comes from the same monsters who society believes to be heroic angels of mercy.
