Website "MadinAmerica" slowly self destructs

I am just going to paste my reply to them. I want to save some threads before they pull them.

They are going to close the forums !!

They could have easily beat that stupid “write essay” spammer. That person would have gotten bored of posting that crap and went away if anyone bothered checking on the forums and taking down the posts.

Several members were willing to help by listing the spam threads and accounts but no one took any action so one member took it on himself to start vandalizing the spam threads hoping to discourage the spammer because the people in charge of it would not do their jobs.

This is a big mistake, go to Google and search Zyprexa withdrawal.

Number one search results are MIA. Thousands of views come into this website from all over the world every year from that thread alone.

Again since no one would do their job and delete the spam threads despite help from several members the spam continued. I used to often invade other forums and post the truth about psychiatry and I know that at first the censorship is a motivator but in a short wile when your threads keep disappearing you get tired and move on. That little $#%^ with the links to the ‘write essay’ scam websites would have done the same.

To be honest with you guys I sort of think MIAs time is over anyway. Wile I am really upset about is loosing the number one spot on Google for Zyprexa withdrawal but this website has degenerated into stupid all that “liberal” political stupid crap that alienates up to half the viewers.

Go ahead delete the forums and self destruct, this website has been going downhill for a long time anyway and I should donate my time to the cause of human rights psychiatry elsewhere.

222 views above … I remember when every story got thousands.

Eli Lilly is going to be so Happy when that Zyprexa Withdrawal link is gone from first place search results. Good Job MIA.

And don’t think I did not see this coming, I said to myself months ago they are allowing the forum to fill up with spam to drive out the posters stop them talking to each other.

Other posters noticed psychiatric survivors were not wanted here anymore.

For the history records:

The forums on MIA have existed since 2012 and were originally conceived as a way of providing a space for off-topic discussions. In recent months, we have been experiencing a spate of spam and malicious posts, which unfortunately are impacting other areas of Mad in America and interfering with our ability to provide blogs, news, interviews and so forth. In fact they have caused our site to crash repeatedly.

We have therefore taken the decision to cease the MIA forums, as they have become near impossible to manage as we would like to. This is not an easy decision for us, and we appreciate all the time and effort that forum users have put into the discussions over the years. We would like to encourage forum users to instead focus on commenting on our blogs and news stories or to make use of the MIA Facebook page for commenting (we recognise that not everyone wishes to use Facebook).

We will close the forum to new posts from today (March and then the forums will be removed a week later on Friday March 15. Please use this time to save any messages or content from the forums that you wish to keep.

Worse then I thought- they are deleting it all Perhaps they were getting to close to the truth. Which I will say they were regarding drug side effects and trauma origins of mental illness. Curious how the rest will be- but it would not surprise me if that too becomes a sell out. Remember Alex Jones?

To me it did seem intentional but I can't go around seeing everything as a conspiracy so I went with the 'rational' assumption that it was just a lazy moderator and a little sh^t troll/spammer.

As far as I could tell we had 2 or 3 spammers. One was posting India Tech Support scams, one posting online pharmacies and the little sh^t with the essay writing service links was more of a troll.

Payed detractors, I did entertain the thought that it was an effort by a pro psychiatry entity to vandalize the forums.

But the most logical rational evidence to support the idea that MIA wanted to get rid of the forums all along was that they made no effort to combat the spam, zero, even after multiple complaints and help from users. I am sure on this website PF you get that spam crap constantly and just hit delete, pretty easy. You have the advantage the spammer has to sign up and make the post the spam compared to the energy and time to delete it. You will win.

Its just a damn shame Robert Whitaker a living legend in human rights psychiatry, that his MIA website taken over by these pro psychiatry "liberals" and IMO slowly destroyed.

Could be- but if you mod any site, especially busy ones you soon find out there are more trolls/spammers then legit users. A dozen or more being banned over a 24 hour period is not unheard of.

That or the mods intentionally let what would otherwise be a 30 second account go on for days or weeks in an effort to dramatize an excuse justifying closure.

Which is why I say it was intentional IMO. If they were getting spammers in the hundreds per 24 hours with only a few mods then yes I would buy it. But for a few trouble posters no way.

The big one for me was when he said Sandy Hook never happened. I saw his sell out starting before hand, but as soon as he said Sandy Hook never happened for me it was official. It went on for months, forum posters were doing the work themselves listing the spam screen names and threads and posting them here https://www.madinamerica.com/forums/forum/feedback/

I went to battle with these spammers and was posting the spam on whats called 'scambaiter' websites where people pretend to be falling for the scams and mess with them everything from wasting their time with prank phone calls to advanced computer hacking. After posting links to the tech support spam the scam baiters did mess with them and the spam from them stopped but the "essay writing service" little sh^t continued posting.

With a delete button I could have easily worn them down and defeated them but the only tool I had was to paste 100 tons of paste in a reply to the thread and it would time out before opening and say "bad gateway" I thought it just jammed up the one topic but apparently it crashed the whole site LOL
