wonder what % of people who are suffering are victims of some form of this ?

also wonder if any of the techniques are used by shrinks ?

do a web search / google .

gas lighting is a sophisticated version of bullying .

Yes I would say that my old psychiatrist (I referred to him as "Dr. Cha" in my story that I posted in this thread here) used a form of gaslighting on me. I think I'd probably call it "semi-gaslighting". He was outright denying the reality of a situation that he wasn't present for. His subordinate's (a Nurse Practitioner) behavior toward me during the nine sessions that I had with this Nurse Practitioner (NP) between April 2015 and May 2016 were most definitely unusual and inappropriate.

I told my psychologist (this guy who I paid $700 to test me for pretty much all disorders last year) about all of this, and I suggested the possibility that I imagined the whole thing. But the psychologist (I referred to him as "Dr. Vai" in the thread that I linked to above) told me that I most definitely did not imagine any of it, and that the NP's (I referred to her as "Dr. Ude" in that link) behavior toward me was indeed most definitely unusual and inappropriate. The psychologist also told me that I'm not: delusional, nor hallucinating, nor experiencing any confabulations, nor am I at the onset of schizophrenia, nor will I ever develop schizophrenia, nor will I ever develop any other schizophrenic-like disorder. He even wrote all of that on my Psychological Evaluation (PsychEval) report:

My PsychEval wrote:There were no questions raised regarding his reality testing, no hallucinations reported, and no delusions noted either, failing to support a psychosis hypothesis (including all Schizophrenic disorders). His commonly paranoid disposition is deemed largely reality-based, informed by years of suffering from bullying victimization at school, exposure to domestic violence, and exposure to criminality in and around his home.

My PsychEval wrote:Some of his vegetative symptoms appear to be somewhat mitigated by the prescription of a psycho-stimulant (Adderall), which has been used on a regular basis.

My PsychEval wrote:He was advised to continue to attend his regular meetings with his psychiatrist (currently, Dr. Cha) who prescribes Adderall, and to refrain from use of alcohol and illicit substances.

I printed out several copies of this PsychEval, some of which I handed over to Dr. Cha. After going over it, he agreed to continue prescribing Adderall to me. This is what he wrote on my Medical Records (MedRec) for the session that I had with him on August 9, 2016:

My MedRec wrote:080916 md150 20 min
S: He went to see a psychologist Dr. Vai, PhD. ---.---.----. Dr. Vai doesn't think that he has a personality disorder, but he has schizotypal personality style. Dr. Vai doesn't think that he will develop schizophrenia and that it's OK for him to continue to take Adderall XR which will help with his mental state. He's diagnosed by Dr. Vai to have MDD, moderate, recurrent, GAD, and Social Anxiety Disorder

[...]

A: ADHD
P: Adderall XR 20mg tid, #90 for 2 months with EFD 9/9/16. Recommend meetup.com for him to increase his social circle.

But two months later, he decided to change his mind and decided that I really am delusional after all. This is what he wrote for the session of October 17, 2016:

My MedRec wrote:101716 md150 30 min
O: Confronted patient about all of the accusations and conclusively denied all of the accusations. Depression 9/10. Anxiety 5/10. Irritability 2/10. Happiness 3/10. Calmness 6/10. Gratitude 9/10. Appearance: wearing dark sunglasses, wearing a hat, and carrying a backpack. No AIMS. Constricted affect as before. Linear thought process. Has delusions concerning Dr. Ude's behaviors. No hallucinations. Limited insight. Fair judgement.
A: Delusional Disorder, erotomanic type f22. R/O Schizotypal Personality Disorder. ADHD
P: Will taper patient off of Adderall XR and switch him to a different medication as we're not sure if Adderall XR is accentuating his delusional thoughts. Decrease Adderall XR to 20mg bid, #60. Informed patient that he should not be obtaining Adderall XR from other providers while we taper his Adderall XR and if he did, then we could no longer prescribe him Adderall XR. He understood and agreed.

The month after that, Dr. Cha told me that that month would officially be the very last month that he would prescribe Adderall to me. He lowered the dose from 60 mg daily (my dose for the month of September 2016) down to 40 mg daily (my dose for October 2016) down to 20 mg (my dosage for November 2016) and then next month would be 0 mg... nothing at all.

I had also told him earlier in that session that I had had my DNA tested by AncestryDNA earlier that year, and that I ran the raw data of my AncestryDNA test results through a web site called "Promethease". Promethease revealed to me any possible medical conditions that I might have, showing me which of my genes put me at a certain risk for something (e.g. Promethease revealed to me that I had several genes suggesting that I was at a "high risk" of having autism). So I told my psychiatrist all of this and that I would like to be tested for Asperger's Syndrome (AS) and/or some other Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and he told me that he didn't know of any tests for that.

I had then asked him why it was that he was going to stop prescribing me Adderall when I had already stopped talking about my theories. One of my theories was that I suspected I was possibly being assessed for Personality Disorders (PDs) with neither my knowledge nor consent. He referred to such theories as "delusions". He also said that, "you telling me that you believe that you might have autism isn't a normal-level of thinking. The Adderall is causing you to have these sorts of abnormal thoughts."

So Dr. Cha seriously decided to stop prescribing Adderall to me just because I told him that I believed there was a possibly I might have an ASD and that I'd like to be evaluated.

Even now I am only describing a fraction of this story.

wish I was able to respond to your reply with more detail .
all of it is what I'd expect from the system -

it looks like your trapped into arguing with people who have zero interest in helping you -
with basic needs . wasting precious time , money , energy .
good example of gas lighting minus obvious criminal acts .

I experienced the same thing with the autism label .
believe it is reserved for children of parents
who want to see their child get some real help .

believe when an autistic child becomes an adult - shrinks start adding negative labels ???

all labels are negative ? :burn:

clicked the link to your post -

have to admit I did the same thing .
did not answer your question .

yes shrinks will not tell you about labels .
my first post on this forum - I mentioned how shrinks lied to me about the long term effects of the drugs they wanted me to take .
they said - dry mouth - but in my file they claim I was told it would cause tardive dyskinesia !

so - not only will shrinks not tell you everything .
(they could give you a copy of everything - BUT THEY DON'T )
but they will lie ...

Be very careful.

The more you interact with psychiatrists, etc., the more chances you have of being swept into their involuntary forced treatment system.

What drug are they going to give you now? Have you read the side effects? The withdrawal symptoms?

I'll bet what comes next are anti-depressants and anti-psychotics. They could ruin your life.

You're looking for help from an industry that ultimately causes its patients to die early.

Get out while you still can.

Actually, in the past I had already been prescribed: three anti-depressants (Lexapro, Trazodone, Nefazadone), one anti-anxiety agent (Klonopin), one anti-convulsant (Primidone), one beta blocker (Propranolol), and one sedative (Ambien). I'm currently only taking one psycho-stimulant (Adderall). My third (and current) psychiatrist wants me to start taking an anti-psychotic now (Abilify).

On my first session that I had with this new psychiatrist earlier this year he wanted to prescribe to me one of two medications—one: the anti-psychotic Abilify—two: the anti-depressant Nefazodone. He explained to me that both of these medications apparently have “mood stabilizing” effects that could help me deal with these “mood swings” apparently being brought on by one of the disorders that I've been diagnosed with—Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). He also explained to me that Abilify could help me “calm down” these apparently “chaotic thoughts” that I'm having, which could then help treat these two other disorders that I've been diagnosed with—Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of taking an anti-psychotic, so I decided to go with the anti-depressant instead.

I was later starting to notice that Nefazadone turned out to not be all that great in helping me deal with my depression and anxiety. It also seemed to be negatively affecting my sleeping patterns and I had to begin taking the sedative Ambien to help me deal with my insomnia, but I was then starting to feel even more depressed than before.

He had already been prescribing to me the psycho-stimulant Adderall for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), simultaneously alongside the anti-depressant Nefazodone. Part of the reason that I didn't want to take the anti-psychotic because it felt a bit counter-productive to take both an anti-psychotic simultaneously alongside a psycho-stimulant on a daily basis, as both drugs seem to have completely opposite uses and side-effects. Wouldn't that be a bit like taking caffeine pills with sleeping pills at the exact same time?

The only real reason that I'm still seeing a psychiatrist right now is so that he would prescribe Adderall to me. That's it, really. Adderall. I would say that Adderall is the one thing, by far, to have helped me the most out of the entire mental health care system (more so than any amount of the hundreds upon hundreds or even thousands upon thousands of dollars that I've already spent on any anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, anti-convulsant, sedative, and beta blocker medication and anything that I've already spent on the three psychiatrists, three psychotherapists, one psychologist, and one neurologist that I've seen within the entirety of these past four years). But this new psychiatrist seems unusually adamant that I begin taking an anti-psychotic. On my most recent session with him he just kept insisting that I take it even though I told him that I felt perfectly fine taking only Adderall.

drugs / medications are a poor substitute for living right .
a good / healthy job and good friends (who are not going to take your money) .

it's hard to be mentally ill if you keep busy all day every day ?
internet , video games , etc. are probably unhealthy wastes of time ?

a shrink who demands , pushes , bullies , etc. you to take dangerous experimental synthetic drugs for the rest of your life is a real threat to your health

Antipsychotics are the very worst of all the drugs in terms of side effects and withdrawal symptoms. They cause diabetes, cardiovascular disease, weight gain, and nasty things like akathisia and tardive dyskinesia.

Simply do a google search of abilify side effects and withdrawal symptoms, print them out and take them with you when you go see that psychiatrist again, and when he starts insisting on putting you on abilify, start reading off the side effects and the withdrawal symptoms and say this is why I don't want to take a neuroleptic drug.

If he keeps on insisting, time to find someone else.

While you're looking things up, do some reading about Assited Outpatient Treatment. The more you expose yourself to the psychiatric industry the more chances you have of saying the wrong thing to the wrong person and ending up in their forced drugging nightmare where even if you don't want to take an antipsychotic medication, they may force you to take one anyways. All your civil rights and human rights get sept away from you.

You already have alot of very serious, very subjective diagnoses. Major Depression would probably be sufficient for them to put you on AOT.

I was personally surprised and shocked when I heard the very private, very personal words I said to a psychiatrist I had trusted being read out loud in a court room, and the judge quickly ruled in their favor and I ended up on AOT. It took a lot of time, effort, and a huge amount of money to hire a private attorney to get me off of it. It was a real struggle.

Just be very careful. Things can turn on you when you least expect it.

I totally agree with epthe.
Since my contact with psychiatry 24 years ago I've been avoiding them like a plague. I was a stupid 16 years old boy who had very hard times foolishly hoping that the white coats men can help to overcome emotional crisis. Instead of help I received the bloody diagnosis after the three days (!) of staying in the mental institution. They required just three days to label me for entire lifetime and kicked me off, even not informing me and my relatives about their estimations of my mental health.
Indeed a very bizarre way to help.
Analysing their behaviour i understood that these guys 1. are not helpful, 2, they are not trustworthy, they are liars, and after a few years learning about my diagnosis that they are 3. extremely dangerous.
There is a very simple but bright Jewish criminal world saying: don't play cards with a spieler (cardsharper). If one is not Sigmund Freud himself he or she shouldn't try to fool shrink around. They are not fools, but very experienced and powerful swindlers, who can smile looking right into your eyes with an absolute "sincere" "understanding" only wanting to construe your revelations in the most defaming way possible in their records, justifying you to be a crooked personality.
So I have boycotted them for almost a quarter of century and was and still is happy about that.
