What it tells me is that they are terrified of the information about side effects getting out there in the general population. They're also terrified of people starting to think about the human rights abuses and the unconstitutional nature of forced drugging. So, they must silence it and keep as many people ignorant about it as possible.

I was never verbally warned about the side effects of the anti-psychotic meds. They gave me a stack of papers to sign, gave me no time to read them, and never gave me copies of them.

When I started experiencing akathisia, tardive dyskinesia, weight gain, and rising blood sugar levels, they told my parents that it was just schizophrenia progressing, and they then increased my dosage and added other drugs to counteract the side effects, but they didn't help much.

It wasn't until a regular nurse (not a psychiatric nurse) at the hospital emergency room told me what I was experiencing were side effects from the meds that I began to do internet searches for the side effects of the drugs.

Also, no one warned me that coming off anti-psychotic meds causes withdrawals so horrible that you think you are going to die. And some of the withdrawal symptoms cause psychosis--- they literally cause what they were supposed to fight against. I was wrongly told that it was just schizophrenia getting worse because I stopped taking the meds. And I was tapering down off the meds. I can only imagine how bad it would've been cold turkey.

Thats what I have heard and read over and over on line, that its not the drugs causing all the symptoms but the disease. In fact older psychiatric books that I've looked through show brain scans of schizophrenia and specifically mention that its more to do with the illness then the psychotropics. It seems like they didn't even want the doctors to know.

But yahhh, mental health care workers appear to be vastly different sect from the rest of typical medicine. It seems like the average doctor is far more honest and open then anyone specializing in mental health.

I think many psychiatric nurses, many therapists, and even some psychiatrists are simply ignorant about the side effects of the meds, and they blindly follow what they were taught in their college classes. And there is a built-in bias in the entire psychiatric profession to ignore their patients' complaints because, well, we're crazy after all. I do, however, fault their professors and the textbook authors for not warning them more about the very serious side effects of psych meds, and the very real withdrawal symptoms from coming off psych meds. Or, not to give into my old delusional thoughts, but maybe it is far more sinister than that.

The reason that psychriatic nurses are so different than regular nurses is that quite simply, regular nurses and regular doctors care mainly about trying to get you physically healthy. Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses, on the other hand, only prescribe drugs that are very dangerous and damaging to your physical health. Their main objective is to keep you from being a danger to the public at large, and if it damages your physical health in the process that is a an acceptable risk in their eyes. Set aside the fact that the vast majority of mentally ill people are not violent, it is acceptable in their eyes to damage the health of that entire subset of the population to keep a few dangerous people from slipping through.

Also, the ones in leadership positions probably know how physically damaging these drugs are, and so they to do everything in their power to keep the general public ignorant about it and keep pushing their narrative.

In my experience the bulk of those who go into psychiatry are authoritarian. They can not think for themselves and seek to boss others. The books play off of that, preaching the importance if keeping patients on regimes and gas lighting every complaint that might be against said treatment regime.

I agree- and the goal is to keep patients on as many drugs as possible for as long a time as possible. Psychiatry is not about people getting better, but rather keeping them ill so they can remain a consumer for life.

Their main objective is to keep you from being a danger to the public at large, and if it damages your physical health in the process that is a an acceptable risk in their eyes. I would agree- but also to a degree, disagree. Personally I think psychiatry is what makes some people dangerous. Look at the fall out from SSRIs, to which I've heard so many horror stories of people becoming suicidal or homicidal I truly believe they should only be given under controlled supervision. How many mass shooters were said to have been on these medications? And with all the abuse and torture psychiatric institutions put people through, they certainly don't create people with a rosy outlook on life or society. Violence only gives cause for psychiatry to strip people of their rights and gain control over none violent people making some of them violent in the process which only amplifies the cycle.

Also, the ones in leadership positions probably know how physically damaging these drugs are, and so they to do everything in their power to keep the general public ignorant about it and keep pushing their narrative.

I fully agree. They are very well aware, but to say so would mean loosing $$$$$.

Well, firstly as someone who used to own an internet site myself previously, I would have removed it as well... People have lawyers. Defamation and Libel are very real and uber expensive things.

Secondly, I understand that you were trying to help. However, as someone married to a Dr of Psychology and whilst she does not prescribe pharmaceuticals, she would never diagnose anything over the internet in this fashion, nor even express an opinion past "See your health provider"... You have no idea if that person is even being truthful about their condition or medication. People who have advised you, advised you at that time - no one else.

Thirdly .... Myself I am a psychopath, nihilist, misanthrope and so forth..... but looking through the posts on here, I am obviously not paranoid.
The internet... full of people I'd never deign to talk to in real life or even stand near.....
