What it tells me is that they are terrified of the information about side effects getting out there in the general population. They're also terrified of people starting to think about the human rights abuses and the unconstitutional nature of forced drugging. So, they must silence it and keep as many people ignorant about it as possible.
I was never verbally warned about the side effects of the anti-psychotic meds. They gave me a stack of papers to sign, gave me no time to read them, and never gave me copies of them.
When I started experiencing akathisia, tardive dyskinesia, weight gain, and rising blood sugar levels, they told my parents that it was just schizophrenia progressing, and they then increased my dosage and added other drugs to counteract the side effects, but they didn't help much.
It wasn't until a regular nurse (not a psychiatric nurse) at the hospital emergency room told me what I was experiencing were side effects from the meds that I began to do internet searches for the side effects of the drugs.
Also, no one warned me that coming off anti-psychotic meds causes withdrawals so horrible that you think you are going to die. And some of the withdrawal symptoms cause psychosis--- they literally cause what they were supposed to fight against. I was wrongly told that it was just schizophrenia getting worse because I stopped taking the meds. And I was tapering down off the meds. I can only imagine how bad it would've been cold turkey.
