Schizophrenia misdiagnosis?

Postby Shadow84 » Mon May 15, 2017 10:35 am

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia approximately a year and a half ago. I was prescribed Risperlet but due it's side effects, later used Abilify.

I have now for more than 6 months been off Ability and am unmedicated. I have had no symptoms since. Is it possible that I could have been misdiagnosed?

It's possible. But bear in mind that it can take time before symptoms come back. So it might be the case that you are ill but your symptoms still haven't come back. Can I ask did you suffer from delusions and hallucinations? If not why were you diagnosed and put on antipsychotics to begin with?

look up almost any shrink med and include lawsuit .

especially abilify is in the news right now .

I always thought hearing voices was part of schizophrenia ?

anyway shrinks will try to hook anybody they don't like on anti psychotic synthetic poisons .

why ? for money - money for nuthin .

last shrink I went to wanted me to take abilify .

wish I had pretended too and maybe get in on this class action lawsuit .

Hearing voices is also found in other mental disorders, and very, very common in the most severe dissociative disorders. In fact most experts in the study of chronic childhood trauma agree that dissociative disorders have just as many, if not more schneiderian first rank symptoms then classical schizophrenia. Misdiagnosis in those cases is inevitable, especially when said psychiatrist does not believe dissociative disorders are real. I know because I've had this argument first hand. Telling a doctor that internal voices are part of dissociated personality states is in itself twisted into articulating delusions, ie 'patient believes other people live inside their own head' I have long held the belief, that again, such logic on the psychiatrist's part is no accident... psychotropics do not resolve trauma.

Of course I am not saying this applies to the OP, but rather another example of the profusion of ignorance and covert pharmaceutical influence which permeates psychiatry.

google Maslow and self actualization - he estimated that only 2 % of people make it .

if you are struggling with basic needs - your probably getting sick .
shrinks know this and so are never totally wrong with a diagnosis .

the main issue is that shrinks are not going to help you - they are going to do what is financially best for themselves .

Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs is totally ignored by the mental health business because there is zero profit $ in it for shrinks .

simple undeniable fact --- we live in an environment and society ( 7 billion people )
that will create mental illness .

Probably misdiagnosed. Sadly that will stay on your record forever.

But, you obviously don't need those horrible meds. consider yourself lucky that you didn't get in too deep and you're not on court ordered treatment. Now take this opportunity to stay as far away from psychiatry as you possibly can. The more you interact with psychiatry the more likely you are to get forced to take those horrible drugs.

I was misdiagnosed with Schizophrenia for over 12 years. Took the medicine for a year and the sympoms never came back. I also suffered severely from insomnia when they started treatment for Schizophrenia, and they started giving me sleep meds at the same time.

If you think you have been misdiagnosed, dont wait to bring it up. There is nothing worse than wasting 12 years of your life because your doctor thinks he got it all down.

It is difficult, specially with a metal diagnosis, but you have to be an advocate for yourself and if you feel it is wrong, speak up. Nobody is going to speak up for you.

Is it possible to be CORRECTLY diagnosed as a schizophrenic? The very idea of schizophrenia is a mischaracterisation of the processes occurring.

I was told by a mental health worker than some people who have psychosis have one episode, some have a few, some go on to have them for life - the rule of thirds.

In reality, as I understand it, psychosis is a positive process that tends to be problematic due to the fact that society as it is currently constructed is set up to fight against people going through what has been termed "spiritual awakening".
Dx: schizoaffective, social anxiety AKA spiritual and self-conscious
