So if someone told you how things really are, your delusions would go away?

One of the distinguishing characteristics of a delusional person is that s/he won't listen to reason, as I learned from wikipedia the other day. :^j

Do you think that someone kept you from being aware?

i am sane now. didnt use to be but after studdying buddhism a couple of years i realized the dreamlike or illusiory quality of my waking state. i am getting positive feedback from the people around me. am doing well. But if my doctor had been honest with me in the beggining it wouldnt have taken 10 years. My last hospitalization was for about 6 months.

I'll be patient if you people are patient with me. :^)

vdub, it would be easier to understand your position if you tell us more about yourself. What you have been through, what treatments you have recieved from doctors or otherwise. And some other trivia about yourself wouldn't hurt either.

im diagnosed schizophrenic since late 96. I told the doc i was god, but she musta read the bible or something cause they kept me there for a while. Ive been in and out not sure how many times. I had a suicide attempt in 94 that landed me in for a bit. I only have a high school education. I like to read books on Buddhism and i have an interest in Dream Yoga but have never been lucid in a dream. My latest interest may take me to Brazil.

Ok ok.. so when you talk about awareness you don't mean just being aware of what is happening around us, but dzogchen awareness – the inner self, the core of one's personality or how you should describe it?

I'm no expert on this, I just begun reading about it after reading your post. Interesting stuff though!

What is the interest that might take you to Brazil? :^)
