The gist of it

- the chemical imbalance theory is mostly #######4.

- antipsychotics seize nerves and decrease brain volume... at the trade-off of removing the psychosis. not to mention an absolute plethora of other side effects. only use them when you are left with little to no other choice.

- SSRI's turn you into an emotional zombie... but with the trade-off of replacing your negative thoughts with hopeful ones. in some cases they can permanently cure some issues (such as anxiety or depression), but in others they don't work at all. all in all they don't fix the issue, and will sent you into horrible withdrawal and rebound depression when you stop using them. only use them in the short term

- stimulants are only a temporary fix; make things worse in the long run.

- depressants work when used selectively.

- mood stabilizers work, but come with a crapton of side effects.

- anxiolytics/benzos work when used selectively.

- NDRI's... well I'm not so sure. out of all of these they seem to work pretty well, but all in all, still are not a reliable long term solution.

- psychiatrists are mostly charlatans that see you as nothing more than an object to be drugged up to the eyeballs, however, some actually give a $#%^ and won't push meds.

What did I miss?
self dx. pdd-nos (level 1); covert narcissism w/ avoidant traits; social phobia; inertia.

INFP; dismissive/fearful-avoidant & highly sensitive person

I have always thought of anti-psychotics as hitting a motor with a hammer to see if that makes it work. Basically they are an assault on the brain that makes it hard for a person to think at all. So if a person is psychotic it looks like they are helping.

I did not find that a benzo helped. Just made me sleepy. But it is possible it could have stopped me from having a panic attack. My doc would only give me the worthless paxil crap.

What about the old fashioned MAOIs? I have seen people on other sites say they work way better than SSRIs - plus that the side effects are way overblown. Drugs companies can't make $ off any drug that old though. So why give it to people. mental health isn't about helping people - it's about making $$$$$$$.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
