Psychiatry is a nightmare

It started off with a simple domestic fight. Me and my fiancee were going at it and figured some psychiatric help could be of use. We go in, explain the matter and they refuse us treatment, but do an evaluation on me. Then they disappear. Four hours go by. Around 2am, we decided to leave. Nothing was happening, and we'd resolved our issue amongst ourselves. On the way out a social worker told us I couldn't leave. I asked why and she ran off only to be replaced by three security guards. I asked THEM what was going on. I was looking for them to put the matter in a legal/medical context. Nothing. Like literally no speech. This is when my fiancee started asking questions. They ignored HER. So at this point, I'm being detained under ???? for ???? So I walked out. I figured they'd either explain themselves or let me go.

This is when they started strangling me. I was surprised, but I'm a jiujitsu man. A little strangulation isn't THAT bad. So I was taking his hands off my throat when I hear my fiancee saying "No, stop!". Then she's on the ground and her attacker is rushing me while the other guy is strangling me. I ignore the strangulation and deal with the man that attacked my wife, dropping him with a right cross. The other two thugs threw me onto a bed. At this point, my fiancee was back up and conscious and told me not to fight. So I yelled "I surrender". This is when the torture started. Every time I yelled "I surrender", the attacker yelled "###$ YOU" and beat me some more while he strangled. Then they tied me down and shot me full of drugs. I was like "What the ###$ I'm an American citizen!" The response was "we're all Americans here." "I have RIGHTS!" The response "YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS!"

While they were doing this, they were beating my fiancee in the next room, leaving her heavily bruised and unable to keep down solid or liquid food. She was in the hospital for 24 hours. I was sent to the "State Hospital" for "evaluation". It was in fact a prison.

When I was freed I was taken to court. They claimed I started screaming profanity at nurses, then kicked security in the head unprovoked.

While I don't know all the details, from your story it sounds like you fell victim to an instigation tactic. They all should have told you directly and explained in detail that you were not free to leave being detained under pending psychiatric evaluation (or the like). Staying silent steps away from the front door will lead you to walking out and they know that. However by getting a response out of you they have an excuse to give treatment. Every hospital bed filled brings the institution $$$$ so they have absolutely no incentive to stop. In my experience/observation what you encountered is not out of the ordinary, rather the daily norm in psychiatry. Covert instigation to justify treatment or worsening symptoms is their modus operandi. The only get away with it because 1. Most of the time it is not documented on camera 2. Once a patient is labelled mentally ill its easy to denounce their claims as being part of their illness only reinforcing the belief the mentally ill are not credible. The damage these people do is truly profound.


If I may what are they asking from the court?

That's absolutely horrible.

They can readily take on this stance of the "authoritarian savoir" - labeling others as mentally ill without consideration of physical causes of their problem, which from a 3rd party perspective (family), may often be seen as "helping them", and ultimately they end up with more problems that are covered up by the diagnosis. Ruling with an iron fist and all that.

Then again. there are a gazillion other issues going on in the world today, this just being one of them.

I suggested this to a poster on this website before and this was the result :

On April 18, 2013 a woman was taken to Restpadd Psychiatric Inc, 2750 Eureka Way Redding, Ca. and admitted. When she arrived she was heavily medicated, disoriented, and tried to leave the facility. They don't like it much when dirty deeds behind locked doors pop up when people google the place, it is detrimental to their advertisements calling what they do "help".

Its always best to remain as calm as possible and don't be an A hole first but sometimes a friendly reminder to psychiatry staff that some time in the future you and them might cross paths outside the hospital when it is all over in a dark place without any panic buttons to call the goons. You and your friends and them all alone maybe walking to there car after work. Its not very nice but sometimes they forget that when they get all amped up abusing patients and need a reality check. Keeps everyone involved polite and civil.

But anyway put the story online using consumer complaint sites, they hate that. Post anonymously if you want, ripoff report doesn't care or check if you use fake name and it is not displayed anyway.
