All we want is informed consent and for psychiatry to respect human rights, including but not limited to, full informed consent regarding the medical legitimacy of psychiatric diagnosis, the risks of psychiatric treatments, the right to all available medical alternatives, and the right to refuse any treatment considered harmful.

Sometimes I think we drive people away because they use psychiatric drugs and get offended or believe you have to be off them to be against what psychiatry does.

There are many people who do find psychiatric medication useful, but those people often ignore people who have been abused by the psychiatric system and end up spreading myths that lead to more psychiatric abuse, as they don't take into account that their experiences are not universal.

With the risks associated with treatment methods, it should not have to be said that everyone has the right to informed consent. People who use psychiatric medication and find it helpful need to understand why other people may want to make different decisions for themselves.
