Poll: Were you told about withdrawal reactions ?

All psychiatric drugs have the potential to cause withdrawal reactions, including the antidepressants, stimulants, tranquilizers, antipsychotic drugs, and “mood stabilizers” such as lithium , Trleptal and all those.

Goto http://www.google.com enter name of drug and the word withdrawal. Look at all the post by people suffering withdrawals.

I have done this poll before but can't find it so its a do over and we have new people.

So again if you were started on psychiatric drugs and agreed to take them were you informed that it is possible you will have unpleasant reactions possibly very very unpleasant reactions if you should decide to stop taking them ?

As a patient, you have certain rights. Some are guaranteed by federal law, such as the right to get a copy of your medical records, and the right to keep them private. Many states have additional laws protecting patients, and healthcare facilities often have a patient bill of rights.

An important patient right is informed consent. This means that if you need a treatment, your health care provider must give you the all the information you need to make a decision.
I survived psychiatry.

No. Never. When I was started on antidepressants I even explicitly asked and was told no such thing existed and I shouldn't believe people on fora that said they had withdrawal. She told me the people writing that were ill, crazy, and there was no withdrawal. I was as stupid to believe her, because I trusted her and not the nice people on fora warning others. Feel stupid about that now. Even when I had a withdrawal psychosis they blamed it on stress and I did not see through it until it happened another time.

They didn't tell me about the need of tapering off either...For benzo's i was just told to start and stop as needed. No mention of addiction or withdrawal.

I think pharmaceutical companies should be obliged to research withdrawals as well as side effects and put all the withdrawals on the list with side effects you get when you get the meds.
